This article, which will soon appear in the Heilbronner Stadtzeitung, fits in very well Heinrich's election call and his election shock experience On Sunday.

Yes, we have Free Voters Harry Mergel backed by a great alliance. Yes, we are also partly responsible for the low turnout. Yes, we voted for his re-election.

No, there were and are no backroom agreements with the incumbent. No, we didn't offer ourselves.

We free voters evaluated the positive performance of our mayor and honored it with our election call. Harry Mergel didn't do everything right, but did most of it.

As a free voter, we will criticize him in his new term of office where necessary and support him in the major tasks of urban development. Digitization, affordable housing, settlement of promising companies, KI-Park Steinäcker, conversion of mobility, security in our city, inner city development, environmental protection, conversion of our coal-fired power plant to a gas and later "green power plant", development of the districts - all topics that we support and vote for in the municipal council.

Yes, we look forward to the next term of office of and with Mayor Mergel. Let's shape the future of our city together. If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

  • Thank you Herbert for your contribution. It is true that the Free Voters faction supported the Mayor. And probably a lot of other free voters too — although I don't have precise knowledge here.

At least one free voter from Heilbronn, namely me, did not support the mayor and also did not vote. That's the good thing about us free voters, that we're not subject to party or faction constraints, and that's why each of us can make decisions and vote to the best of our knowledge and belief.

If there were more of us in Heilbronn, we would certainly have fewer problems in the city.
