Wolfmensch

A friend had a real gain in knowledge these days and in doing so he remembered the well-known words of the poet Titus Maccius Plautus reminded: Homo homini lupus. These dictums were still on everyone's lips at least in the last century and are taken from the comedy Donkeys by the said poet.

"Lupus est homo homini, non homo, quom qualis sit non novit."

Titus Maccius Plautus, Asinaria (ca. 200 BC)

In a comedy - otherwise Plautus would probably have been thrown to the lions - the poet held up a mirror to us humans and, very nicely put, drew our attention to a fact that is still highly topical today and also very good for my blog post "Aryans" fits.

Namely, a wolf is man to man, not a man, as long as he does not know what kind the other is! And with this translation of the above words I can comfort my friend again, because we humans are not werewolves.

And that actually shows us a way out of the misery, because by getting to know each other better, you could easily get rid of most problems. Of course, you will then also find out that there are actually werewolves and other idiots who really want to get your hands on you.

My experience shows that 80% of people are perfectly fine and only 5% of people are hopeless. Unfortunately they are right now these said 5%that make life very difficult. And my friend recently ran into one of them.

City stroll

I used the late afternoon for my obligatory stroll through downtown Heilbronn. There were quite a few people out and about, so I switched to the avenue for my cup of coffee.

Whoever says A must also say B, at least that is the common opinion. That's why I've been a member of the executive committee of the Free Voters' Association of Baden-Württemberg since last year. And in this function I now spent half of Saturday in Renningen. The last time I was there was in 1984 when I went to guard duty with a squad of infantry at the local munitions depot. I have good memories of this because during the night one of “my” patrols was shot at, which made the rest of the night a little more exciting and even activated the alarm train from the Böblingen location.

Today there is neither the Böblingen location nor the Renningen ammunition depot. Which is not surprising, because the Bundeswehr does not need ammunition, as is well known. But we have many new administration buildings and so the former ammunition depot was no longer recognizable.

In any case, the executive committee meeting was really worthwhile for me, because I was able to learn a lot of new things and still take a lot home with me. And a short walk through Renningen showed that the city has developed really well in recent years. I particularly liked the spacious and well-kept sports facilities and the World Culture Trail, which has been there since 2004; with a similar idea we are failed gloriously in Heilbronn.

In any case, you can see it in a city when the city leadership takes care of the city and both the municipal council and the administration are there for the citizens first.

"He who is schooled in dialectical theory is reluctant to indulge in positive ideas about the right society, about its citizens, even about those who could achieve it."
