Right at the beginning, this is the first Christmas letter that will only be available digitally. With all the changes that are currently happening and will continue to happen all over the world, I think it is only logical that I should now also part with a now completely antiquated tradition and no longer put my Christmas letters on paper. I am fully aware that even with this change, there will be one or two people who are dear to me who will stop reading my letters. The old military man in me just thinks: There is always a loss. While the educator knows that you can't please everyone. The decision has been made, we now have to deal with it.

Back to the important changes, of which there are more than any of us would like. The only constant that remains is that we continue to think of science as pure devilish work and ignore all advice from certified experts.

Man-made climate change will no longer be able to be stopped and will lead to hundreds of millions of people fleeing their homes in the coming decades. Many of them will try to find their new happiness in Europe. This alone will forever destroy the European states and societies that still exist today. We all suppress to the end that this is the price of consumerism, homes, SUVs, cruises, ski holidays and air travel.

The current wars of aggression by totalitarian societies will not decrease, but will logically and inevitably continue to increase. Iran, North Korea, China and probably soon at least India, South Africa and Brazil are already in the starting blocks. Like Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin, Russia and its vassals only have a chance of survival by continually expanding their raids. And reach Western Europe as quickly as possible, while there is still something to be had there. Even if there would then be nothing left to gain in the Western world because it has also brought itself to the brink of ruin through an additionally imposed defense economy, this would also lead to a victory for totalitarianism, as there would then no longer be any existing better alternatives . We all suppress to the end that this is the price of an irresponsible peace dividend and the conscious one that continues to this day dismantling our armed forces and the lasting destruction of our Arms industry at a hunt.

The elite corruption that is very widespread in our country will continue to destroy our democracies and the open society that goes with them from within. The continuous growth of all anti-democratic parties, movements and forces is an unmistakable sign of this. Because as soon as citizens start following self-confessed fraudsters and charlatans, even the most ignorant representatives, church leaders, business bosses and administrators would have to realize that they have all completely exaggerated things. Corresponding expert advice, ongoing transparency efforts and the first tentative attempts by citizens to take back their democracy through new concepts are also ignored, if not torpedoed. We all suppress to the end that this is the price for having made ourselves far too comfortable in a parliamentary democracy and for having neglected our own values and duties far too readily.

If we go back a good 2 years in keeping with the occasion, then we can say with a clear conscience that these huge problems and challenges have always existed, just not on this global scale! Today we are faced with the great challenge that this will not just be a regional downfall, but will actually lead to a biblical Armageddon.

But 2 years later, we still have it in our own hands and perhaps even as ordinary citizens we have more influence than ever before in all the millennia - let's leave the imaginary primitive communism out of the game.

The viable concepts and ideas have been around for a very long time: Christianity and possibly humanism as its successor, democracy and federalism. We citizens just have to finally and actually want it! Citizens of all countries unite!

If we wanted this, what should we do?

Europe, one country after another, would have to switch to a war economy. We must pool our resources as quickly as possible to first end the Russian attacks and then ensure a global ceasefire.

Then, secondly and perhaps in parallel, address climate change massively by switching off the worst polluters worldwide and introducing new technologies as quickly as possible.

Thirdly, we would have to get out of the war economy and establish a sustainable global economic area that ensures a decent life for everyone in the world, locally.

These three measures would have to be accompanied politically as follows: Creation of a European federal state and its expansion, possibly also through a transatlantic merger. The promotion of further mergers of countries, whether as a federal state or a confederation, and the significant strengthening of the United Nations as the future world government.

Christmas is also the time of dreams, dreams of a better world and a coexistence that is as peaceful as possible for everyone on this planet, which is so small and, at least for us, unique. More love for each other and more understanding for each other!

What Jesus failed to achieve in a good 2 years is unlikely to be achieved by us either. I still firmly believe that we should at least try it once.

I believe that is the very idea of Christmas.

  • There are now functioning technologies that allow us to maintain the standard of living we have achieved in a CO2-neutral manner. Richard Branson It showed us a few days ago in aviation, wind turbines 100 - 200 meters higher and we get 2-3 times the electricity yield, pressing CO2, modern SUVs that, when viewed as a hybrid, have the same CO200.000 emissions including production over 2 km pure electric vehicles, ...
My wish for Christmas would be as a European Union (very happy in conjunction with the Free Voters and the VDI; then it would be Thomas Heiligenmann 3 times requested) to put together a catalog that shows which technically/technologically alternative paths can already be taken today, without the need for bans and without a guilty conscience when buying an SUV, traveling on a cruise ship, eating beef or Rice.
We'll be surprised at the variety of options and how easy it is to make the climate stickers look even more stupid.
