I have been using Bluesky since September 18, 2023; the thanks go to it Matthew Pfefferle, who provided me with an “invite code”. Bluesky has been online since 2021, but was initially only available to a very limited number of users and finally opened a corresponding waiting list from 2022. I registered there with two email addresses, but unfortunately I haven't received a response to date.

And so I was very happy that the founders of Bluesky Jay Graber and Jack Dorsey, some people still know the latter from Twitter ago, decided to start with invitation codes. At first I logically tried to find what I was looking for in California, but had little luck and ended up over Matthew Pfefferle reached such a point.

From a technical point of view, Bluesky was planned as the better Twitter from the start, namely in that the developers planned it not only as a text-focused social media platform, but also as a decentralized social media platform and ultimately put it online. What makes me very happy is that Bluesky was founded as a non-profit company.

As soon as you use Bluesky yourself, you realize that it is like Twitter; It's not yet that sophisticated, but at least it's completely sufficient to be able to post or tweet the things that you would normally do on a text-based basis Social media platforms announces.

There is still a technical problem, at least for me, in that you occasionally see the mobile version of the software on your computer. But there are no annoying advertising, apart from the first users who are already sending advertising tweets on Bluesky.

Bluesky already had over a million users in September 2023 and I assume that this will change very quickly as soon as you are allowed to register there without an invitation code.

We can only hope that Bluesky will establish itself as a Twitter replacement and that the operators will also be able to keep the annoying bots and trolls away from this social media platform - by the way, Elon Musk already has at least one account on Bluesky.

Oh yes, for Bluesky I have decided not to fall for bots and trolls like I do on Twitter and Co. and not to have completely useless discussions with other users. The question still remains as to whether social media has not already completely outdated itself and whether it will only lead a niche existence in the future - similar to the forums beforehand.

And so I hope that in the meantime I will be able to have a few more meaningful and meaningful conversations on Bluesky and gain further and additional useful information about God and the world. I recently asked the other users there what they would do with their Twitter accounts.

I myself am very inclined to delete this soon - again in the Way too long Twitter X story!

I deleted my Facebook, Instagram and Mastodon accounts a long time ago and still have no desire to set up new ones there - probably the first sign that social media has really outlived its usefulness.

Now I'm very excited to see what happens next with Bluesky. Can it establish itself as a social media platform among the big five and does it fulfill the ideas and wishes of its communication-loving users this time?

    • What is true is that I deleted my Mastodon account a long time ago. It is also true that Mastodon and my blog are part of Fediverse and therefore my blog posts can appear among Mastodon users under certain circumstances - which, by the way, makes me happy.
