Relaxation

The day started a little earlier with a wonderful one Performance of the dancer on the theater ship last night, the extension of which in a small group then introduced the new day in a very relaxed manner in a bar. After a brief hiatus, a squash court managed to get me going again.

The rest of the day then rippled along, so that I had enough time for good conversations and one or two new thoughts, which I can now easily record in my slip of paper.

And at the end of the day, a visit tip: the Burgfalconry Hohenbeilstein. In addition to a beautiful view of the surroundings, there is an interesting castle complex with home-style cooking. But the highlight there is still falconry.

Foundation

Without any ifs and buts, it's always better if we Heilbronners spend our money in the city and not somewhere else. Many of my fellow citizens rightly point out that it is better to shop in our local shops than in some Heilbronn mayors in Milan or even more attractive shopping centers. One advantage would be that this not only helps our city, but will also increase the variety and quality of offers in the medium term. Unfortunately, in Heilbronn it's still en vogue to tell your neighbors that you can only get the shirt or trousers you've just worn in Munich, Stuttgart or New York.

And so it is very gratifying when financially happier residents of Heilbronn — however they may have acquired their wealth — also reinvest their money in Heilbronn in a way that raises public awareness. Just imagine if, like so many of our own neighbors, they would invest their money in New York, Milan or Munich. That would be a pity for Heilbronn.

Of course, it would be better if these investments would flow through normal tax payments, because then this would further strengthen our democratic society overall - the increased tax revenue would be democratically regulated, redistributed or even invested for the benefit of the city. In addition, one could z. B. give all public schools a modern facility and equipment.

Given our current lack of transparency and our lack of democracy, I can understand that taxpayers would like to decide for themselves exactly what happens to their tax money, especially when it comes to large sums in the millions. The right way would be to ensure more transparency and more democracy. It is therefore less good to avoid taxes or even to ensure that one invests one's obligatory tax debts - whatever - self-determinedly, because that does not promote democracy, but ultimately creates an oligarchy.

That's why, as a resident of Heilbronn, I can only ask that people continue to shop and invest in our city. And in addition, ensuring that all financial flows and decisions are kept as transparent as possible. Because even if these financial flows are all legitimate and legal, this only leaves a somewhat bitter aftertaste for more interested fellow citizens.

At the end of this blog post I refer to an article by Max Kronmuller at FragDenstaat on October 24, 2022 with the title: "How the richest German turned Heilbronn inside out."

gratifying

I hardly suggest that it might make sense to use ours Parking zones in Heilbronn signs, I already get such signs in my residential area. Until today I didn't even know that I live in a corresponding parking zone — according to the Heilbronn city administration, the responsible employees knew this on October 26, 2022, when I wrote my blog post about it, but not yet either. And so I'm excited to find out when I'll find out which new Heilbronn park zone I'm living in; Zone 0815 would be quite appropriate.

But I don't want to complain, because parking zone signs are actually among those signs that can be used sensibly in a city if they are placed in the right places. In any case, this confirms that there are still very hard-working employees in our city administration and we can build on that. I've long assumed that the problems in our city government are solely our four main political post holders.

And I contend that a professional mayor - who can do more than make funny speeches - would also be able to not only lead our city administration well, but also to bring Heilbronn further forward - Helmut Himmelbach has shown us all that this is well within the realm of possibility.

Unfortunately, however, there are influential citizens of Heilbronn who consider such a positive and more democratic development to be of little use.
