Village Vanguard
Musically, this Sunday I went before my own time, namely to the New York jazz club Village Vanguard, exactly back to June 25, 1961. Excitingly (Peter Adder has only recently commented on coincidences) that day was my own wedding anniversary 32 years later — maybe I can remember it better now.
And played on that day Bill Evans zusammen mit Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian, which ultimately led to two long-playing records thanks to a live recording: “Sunday at the Village Vanguard” and “Waltz for Debby”. These two records are now considered milestones of modern jazz and inspired, among other things, Keith Jarrett to his own trio Gary Peacock and --Jack DeJohnette.
In the meantime, I enjoy the two records - one after the other - and let my thoughts wander.
