Fediverse

Today I'm going to be a little nerdier than usual. The reason for this was a blog post by Henning Uhle via a working connection to the Internet. Similar to what I tried Henning Uhle to use the advantages of Fediverse for your weblog. This time he writes about the challenges of the WordPress plugin ActivityPub. I also recently installed it again and am now hoping that I can do it with the help of Detlef Stern I'll be able to get it working properly soon. As already written here, I continue to assume that Fediverse is the right way to access the Internet.

Until then, I'll console myself with the fact that others don't really get along with the Fediverse either.

Reading list

Over the last two days I've slimmed down my reading list quite a bit, so that's what I'm betting on my minimalism project continue further. Only when it comes to books I probably won't be able to hold back on buying new ones, although most of my old books were thrown away shortly after my last move and I will only keep the ones that are most important to me, at least for a while. One would actually have to consider whether it wouldn't have made more sense from the start to have a reading table in a library and rely on a note box - but for me this realization comes a little too late.

And because I was already there, I also thinned out my RSS reader and now even switched to my weblog. This has the great charm that I no longer need any extra reader software and can now travel without a cell phone, tablet or my own computer but can still access my RSS feed via computers in hotels or libraries.

And since the whole thing is already on the weblog, my readers can now also access this feed. All you have to do is follow this hyperlink.

misery

When it comes to urban affairs, Heilbronn has long since left Berlin far behind, which you can probably only see if you have already left Heilbronn for a long time.

In any case, my better half wanted to lure me to the city pool today because she was hoping to be able to swim some lengths while I was already spending my time in the brine pool. Since I know our city, I picked up the phone in advance and called the city pool. The answering machine there assured me that they were still on summer break. My better half insisted that it was just the usual chaos in the city government and that the pool had reopened today.

And so we made a pilgrimage to the indoor swimming pool, did the usual things on the way and then happily stood in front of the open door. My trained eye immediately recognized the chaos, my other half continued to dream of swimming. After waiting in line for half an hour, where I was able to watch at least three completely overwhelmed employees trying to hold out until closing time without completely losing their nerve, my better half looked at the bathers, none of whom had any ambition to actually swim We decided to just update the access authorization and then go back home.

The pool administration had obviously used the summer break to establish a new access system, but unfortunately did not inform a single customer about this measure in advance. And so other regular swimmers tried to get into the pool before us and at least asked how and when the bands could be replaced.

After a good hour of waiting (!), we finally got our turn and less than 30 minutes (!) later we had our new bands in our hands. We tried to see if they worked and then went home.

The urban misery would have been half as bad if I hadn't been able to observe those responsible for this misery gossiping in front of the indoor swimming pool. The chaos, like the last few years, was of no concern to her at all. She talked to Ute, among other things, about the good old days when I still had the stamina to complain in writing to the city about such incompetence and refusal to work .
