ray of hope

The current construction activities in Heilbronn are a real pleasure. Very attractive buildings are being built on many corners, not only on the Allee but also on Fleiner Strasse. Hopefully the building on Weinsberger Strasse, which is still controversial today, will come soon, as it will further enhance the cityscape. And the new development areas are also increasingly shaping our city. A few things have changed for the better in Böckingen recently, and Sontheim is now starting to build something more urban.

The builders obviously believe in our city. Now it's up to the city administration to keep the surroundings in good shape, because what's the use of new buildings or renovations if the surrounding area is dirty and neglected.

It might be a good idea to draw up a list of the costs of maintaining the existing infrastructure every year. And got used to planning future maintenance costs for new buildings. Once you have these finances and the personnel required for them under control, then you can think about what else you would like to achieve wonderfully in Heilbronn.

I am very curious to see how the ongoing expansion of the district heating network will fit into our city, because in a few years there will only be one hydrogen power plant. But maybe a waste incineration plant will get a chance after all?

Hempel

I was delighted to read in the voice of Heilbronn today that it looks like Hempel's under the sofa in Heilbronn. And even the Heilbronn court reporters probably no longer believe that the streets and alleys in Heilbronn will be reasonably clean again, not to mention the squares.

Because just a few years ago I was a lonely voice in the woods, being told that our city was not only the cleanest, but also the neatest in the whole universe. In the meantime, I've gotten used to the fact that cigarette smoke and perfume wafts around me when I swim in the city pool, because that distracts from the stench of the unwashed people in the water stand.

And the butts that are now being criticized have been around for decades. You should have known that if you ever did a cleaning campaign yourself, e.g. B. would have participated on Kiliansplatz. But smoking in restaurants or throwing away rubbish of any kind is not sanctioned in Heilbronn, nor is driving in the pedestrian zones and sidewalks.

But the constant nagging from individuals like me from Heilbronn helps a little. I haven't seen a swimmer with a bottle of beer in his hand in a lap pool for a long time; unfortunately, but recently a pizza-eating fat in the brine pool.

And so you have to ask yourself what Heilbronn would look like today if there were no complainers at all?

Bundeswehr

40 years ago today I became a soldier. As already written here in the blog, but I didn't put on my uniform for the first time until a few days later. I was a soldier with body and soul from the very beginning and I am still firmly convinced that there can be no better job for capable and willing men. However, only the men who are most capable of suffering and willing to make sacrifices should choose the Bundeswehr, because it has become a caricature of armed forces right from the start, and on purpose.

Countless comrades have tried in vain over the last few decades, against the political will of all parties, to get the Bundeswehr to function. Many of them had to pay for this with their own lives. At first I still believed that the ruined barracks, the soldiers being fed underground and the poor equipment with weapons, equipment and ammunition, as well as the soldiers' training that was not up to date - not to mention their leadership - served to make us all "fit for war". make.

Later I had to realize that the Bundeswehr serves at best for the wet dreams of a few professional politicians, but otherwise the military budget was released for overexploitation - every politician and large corporation can help themselves as they please. The most stupid ideologies or fantasies of politicians were paid for with the blood of my comrades. Instead of preparing soldiers for their mission and enabling them to do their job, they are still being used for all sorts of things today - they have to serve their country without ever actually being able to do so!

I could no longer reconcile this with my conscience and retired early. Unfortunately, nothing has improved since then, my comrades continue to be called upon to do all sorts of relief work and, despite the war in the Ukraine, have less and less time and opportunity to prepare themselves for national defense. And in the event that it does happen, there will be a lack of trainers, weapons, equipment and ammunition.

The focus seems to continue to be on amusing politicians, namely ensuring that they can jet through the world in a manner befitting their status or build up their press in front of polished weapons. Meanwhile, all parties are bickering about who will benefit from the recently promised special payments for the Bundeswehr. One thing is certain, the soldiers of the Bundeswehr or even the troops actually having to fight will not experience any improvements.

And when a soldier reports to me very recently how and with what basic infantry training takes place today, then I can consider myself lucky that 40 years ago I was still living in military cockaigne! And so the secret motto of the Bundeswehr still applies:

"Once you think it really can't get any worse, then it gets worse."
