Moving the weblog

It wasn't easy for me when I finally moved my blog to WordPress today. For years I have used a more or less homemade CMS that was originally developed from a military application.

As early as the 1980s, most military users were convinced that computers and databases only really made sense if they were linked to each other. In the 1990s there were wonderful first systems, one of which used all available Microsoft products right from the start. And so it wasn't really difficult to set up such a system privately.

Over the years everything became a little more complicated and also had to look nice - CSS sends its regards. And so it soon became almost impossible, at least for me, to continue running my blog without help. Practically, however, my idea at the time was to simply duplicate the current blog and use it as a basis for other websites - this resulted in countless websites and I was able to simply duplicate all external help.

I was actually quite happy with this system until our youth club (JEF) insisted that they wanted everything to be done with WordPress - they then convinced me that they could take over some club sites independently using WordPress as a basis.

And now my weblog also runs on WordPress, as a CMS is completely sufficient for my taste.

Addendum 23.10.2023

WordPress has now completely proven itself for me. There are certainly newer and better systems, but for me there is no reason to switch again - “Never change a running system”.

By the way, I'm still waiting for the announced takeover of some websites.
