That I even listen to records from this group is entirely the fault of Oliver, a very old friend. He came around the corner with Outlandos d'Amour in 1978 and we listened to them together on my turntable. And while listening to the record Reggatta de Blanc (1979) together, he even claimed that the lyrics "Does everyone stare the way I do?"
From this record at the latest I also had The Police in my record collection and then also bought the three follow-up records Zenyattà Mondatta (1980), Ghost in the Machine (1981) and Synchronicity (1983). The nice thing about the Police is above all the manageability of their repertoire, which is obviously due to their very quick end in 1984, although the band officially disbanded in 2008.
But that also has the consequence that I still like all the records today and I like to hear the individual titles again and again. The Police reorganized in 1977 Stewart Copeland, Henry Padovani, Sting (Gordon MT Sumner) and Andy Summers, whereby Padovani left the band again in 1977, and with the departure of Sting in 1984 their end was obviously sealed.
Even back then, I thought Sting was better without the Police, so I kept collecting his LPs. And I still like to visit today Sting Concerts, last time together with my better half and a couple who are friends, Doro and Philippe, in 2017 near Heilbronn; but we all had to realize that neither those on stage nor ours in front of the stage has stood still.
With the records we can still preserve the atmosphere of that time quite well and bring back good memories.
