Does the AfD belong to Germany? – Right-wing extremists and the media (last accessed on January 25.1.2024, 15.55, XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.)

Democrats are in a dilemma: should they fight the party politically or ban it? The task is also big for the media. Apparently too big for the “today” show.

“As a citizen and a democrat, I see myself as conflicted about all of this. On the one hand, I now have a lot of confidence in the AfD when it comes to anti-democratic activities. On the other hand, the principle 'When in doubt, for the accused' is sacred to me. …

The influx to the AfD is largely not because of Höcke, but in spite of him - and not least because of the catastrophic appearance of the “traffic light”. It would indeed be fatal if contentious government parties wanted to distract from their own misery on the wave of understandable concern for our democracy. Or the Union parties, which are only recovering with difficulty from the loss of substance in previous years, can get rid of an annoying competitor.”

Writes in an opinion piece Peter Voss very statesmanlike about the most correct reporting possible on the part of the public broadcaster, which he misses, at least in the case of reporting on the AfD.

However, whether this means reaching exactly the citizens you actually want and need to reach, namely through the most balanced, highly elaborate and perhaps even extremely pointed reporting, is left out.

I even fear that this will make them see the AfD as completely normal and perhaps even harmless. The problem is that you can only play together with others on the football field as long as they adhere to the applicable rules.

And if a team generally doesn't follow the rules, there is only one solution: they have to leave the pitch! If the referees handle this differently, the other teams - i.e. us - will have no choice but to cut back ourselves.

This is bitter and certainly not “statesmanlike” but necessary in order not to endanger one’s own existence.

Of course, it would be better if we had referees in Germany who know how to do their job and gain respect on the field - but our judiciary has only been trivializing and appeasing since the SRP ban (1952) and the KPD ban (1956). even judicially declared enemies of the constitution, such as: B. in the case of the NPD (2017) and this solely because of “a lack of evidence of successful implementation of their anti-constitutional goals”.

Thanks to the CSU, we will soon have AfD constitutional judges who will then certainly simply ban the ÖRR because of its unbalanced reporting.

What I like about the opinion piece by Peter Voss But what's more disturbing is that he very cleverly puts the danger posed by the AfD into perspective and in doing so skillfully passes the buck to the Democrats, who, in his opinion, only want to distract attention from their own incompetence.
