No one buys books – Blog post (last accessed on April 23.4.2024, 7.41 at XNUMX:XNUMX a.m.)
“Did you know that 96% of books sell less than 1,000 copies? …
If publishing houses make minimal investment in marketing their authors and focus largely on celebrity books and their backlist, authors who can't snag a large advance might have better luck building their own audience and publishing elsewhere."
An eye opener. Even if the book world is actually not as bad as it is Ellen Griffin thinks it would perhaps be a really good way if most authors got by without publishing books for the time being.
And it might be a good idea for publishers not to print everything that sells. But for this consideration, as with Christianity or communism, we would need completely different people - ergo: a completely absurd idea!
