Anonymous callers

To this day it is not entirely clear to me why there are people who call their fellow citizens from suppressed telephone numbers.

If they are corporate or government employees, it might even be understandable given that their employers have limited customer service resources or very outdated communication structures.

When I call privately, I can't think of a reason right away. On the contrary, if the caller wants to talk to me privately but doesn't want to give me his own telephone number, one could assume that he has a very special understanding of communication.

However, it is often the very special people who make working together so interesting and worth living. And I don't want to complain about that!

But things get very strange when these anonymous callers leave no message on the answering machine when the call is unsuccessful and later complain that they were not called back.

Dear anonymous callers, there are more of you than you might even imagine and I can't really call all of you back, even with the best of intentions.
