In keeping with the topic, today's book came from Mike Martin with the title “How to Fight a War”. The first reviews were very positive and so I'm excited to see what happens Mike Martin has everything to say about warfare.

Even more curious to see whether he also draws parallels to the economy or election campaigns. In any case, he will certainly be quoted by many management consultants in the near future, because everything military is really hip there. There are also enough pictures in the book that can be wonderfully presented using PowerPoint.

deserters

Desertion is a crime, especially when people are legally guaranteed alternatives.

Here, deserters of the Third Reich are stylized as heroes - but following their supposed conscience, they could have gone into the resistance or at least become prisoners of war - they chose to desert.

Now even deserters from Ukraine are more than welcomed here. In contrast to those from the Nazi era, these do not come from an unjust state and also have weaponless alternatives.

This means deserters from Ukraine are simply criminals and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights applies here.

"1. Everyone has the right to seek and enjoy asylum from persecution in other countries.

2. This right cannot be exercised in the event of prosecutions actually arising out of crimes of a non-political nature or of actions contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations.”

Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 14 (December 10, 1948)

Ukraine has now asked the European Union about its citizens about this. We should therefore hand over all deserters from Ukraine to the responsible authorities as quickly as possible. This also eases the housing situation and saves tax money.

Addendum

Thomas Heiligenmann drew my attention to a lapsus linguae, which I have hereby corrected.

creeps

Every male citizen is legally guaranteed the right to refuse military service, but in order to do so he must also perform alternative service and, in the event of war, also be available to support our country as a non-combatant for national defense. To this day, female or other fellow citizens have no such duties - just so much for emancipation.

When I began my military service myself, I realized that many of my male peers chose the more comfortable route and did alternative service, but in doing so they were also serving our country. Nevertheless, I was convinced that the objectors, at least that I knew, were refusing military service for reasons of conscience; most of the time it was a pure cost-benefit calculation or simply out of cowardice. Some of them even chose the slightly longer route and signed up for the fire department, the police or the technical relief agency.

And even then there were real shirkers, mostly those with richer parents, who briefly fled to West Berlin and were then released from all citizenship obligations. It was also common practice that one could be exempt from all services by purchasing a medical certificate - these fellow citizens are still among the healthiest and most athletic people, at least in my circle of friends.

A few decades later, I am happy to excuse all of this as pure sins of youth and believe that shirkers have to deal with this solely with their conscience, if they even have one.

But what always infuriates me are those creeps who show off their good conscience in a cocky way for decades and not only make fun of all those who simply did their military service, but worse, at least that too still wished for the plague and cholera, but now that things are becoming politically convenient and, above all, slowly but surely financially attractive, overnight - thanks to their backroom connections and characterless acquaintances - they become German officers, mostly even become staff officers.

With these completely characterless and unscrupulous professional politicians, who can now be found in all parties, we are breeding a whole new generation of Stranskys, the worst of the worst!

At the end of their careers, they probably just don't want to miss the opportunity that is now coming up to send as many fellow citizens as possible to their deaths in the event of a possible war - because apart from a medal for bravery, they have already got everything.
