Lions Heilbronn-Wartberg

has been speaking for a long time Oliver Durst from the Gaffenberg Festival of the Lions Heilbronn-Wartberg, which is held every year on the Gaffenberg. The Heilbronn-Wartberg Lions Club has existed since 1996 and, together with the Heilbronn Lions Club (the one with the Christmas calendars) and the Heilbronn-Franken Lions Club, forms part of Lions District 111. The Heilbronn-Wartberg Lions currently have 45 members and use the big Lions Festival on the Gaffenberg to generate income for numerous charitable activities, including for the benefit of the Wartberg School.

Yesterday evening it was time and my better half and I made a pilgrimage to the Gaffenberg, but only almost, because halfway we were picked up by other guests. Upon arrival, there was a glass of sparkling wine and you could buy individual vouchers for later consumption. It was already apparent here that the organization of the festival is very experienced and professional.

Then we heard the Besigheim band "Stick in Mind", which immediately inspired me because they played all the songs that I like to put on my turntable at home throughout the evening. I was very surprised who I met at the party, a few federalists were already present and had reserved a well-placed table. A few tables away sat a few free voters and another table away Hartmut, a friend from my own kindergarten days. And so I was able to get to know his lovely wife for the first time — oh, how quickly 55 years have passed!

Food and drink was provided even faster - there was something for every taste - and the evening rippled along really happily. I was particularly impressed with the hosts, as I said, not 50 members but a great organized event. The members also found time throughout the evening to clear empty plates and glasses from the tables or to drag in more tables and benches. As a guest, I appreciate this and as club chairman of other clubs, I couldn't help but admire the commitment of the Lions - without this commitment, however, such a very successful event could not be held.

The evening passed faster than expected and I also met the city councilwoman Sylvia Dorr with her husband; Not so long ago we had our children in the same kindergarten. A little later, my better half and I made the pilgrimage home along the Gaffenberg and enjoyed the view of the city at night - the folk festival in particular is very colorful. But only almost home, because shortly afterwards we were picked up again by guests and driven home.

Lack

It is finished. thankfully has Detlef Stern my exams printed at the same time. Meanwhile, I struggled with math tutoring at meseno. It's tragic to see how many children fail simply because they don't have halfway sensible parents. Even our school system is no longer able to compensate for this parental failure. And so a few volunteers try to save at least some of the children that can still be saved. But this is also becoming more and more challenging — yesterday I would have liked to have pulled a couple of parents down their pants. I know that's not possible at all and you don't do that either. We continue to watch incompetent parents ruin their own children.

Basic Law

In my opinion, we should urgently think about a driver's license for parents and also sanction parental misconduct, because they are committing a serious breach of duty - not only towards their own children, but towards society as a whole.

Reading aloud to a third grader yesterday was more gratifying, although I won't be able to read a very good children's book — thanks go to the teacher — to the end. Unfortunately, I also have to state here that being able to do arithmetic, reading and writing is no longer a mandatory part of our school education today.

Which brings me back to my exam. The use of a calculator will not be allowed. This will probably lead one or the other student to the brink of despair, and I only ask for the big multiplication tables at most. Yesterday, "my" eighth graders failed hopelessly at the multiplication table.

Amsterdam

Our municipal council was once again on a discovery tour together with the mayor for a few days. This time in Amsterdam, a very attractive city that has been attracting more and more visitors for a few years now, including our local council.

Although this city trip to Amsterdam to deepen general relationships in the Heilbronn municipal council can be better explained to us Heilbronn residents than if we went to Tokyo, Sydney or Rio — the envy factor would probably have been a bit greater there. I can only say that everyone in Heilbronn has the chance to run for the municipal council. And maybe these free city trips are now the decisive factor for one or the other to throw their own hat in the ring after all.

The official reason for the regular travel activities of the municipal council and city administration is to see how others are making their cities successful. Unfortunately, however, our municipal councils are not capable of learning, at least in this regard, and therefore it is of no use if you continue to expand their travel activities. It would be interesting for me to know if the municipal councils of properly run and administered cities travel around the world just as often. But they probably use their precious time to take care of their city and their fellow citizens.

And those Heilbronn councilors who didn't have time to have fun in Amsterdam this time, yesterday saw the opening of the Heilbronn folk festival. Exorbitant prices are supposed to come up this year, but that doesn't bother our local councillors, since they were of course invited to the opening and were once again allowed to leave their own wallets in their pockets.

That also explains quite well why only one councilwoman was seen yesterday on the Gaffenberg, because everyone had to pay there themselves.
