Featured photo: Fundraiser trip

beginning of the week

A slightly more successful meseno fundraising trip can be seen as a successful start to the week. Today is still marked by several projects, but from tomorrow afternoon the focus will slowly but surely shift to the European ball. The discussions in this regard today give hope that the motto “Culture meets Politics” has met with general approval and that the long-term goal to be achieved has been accepted by the key stakeholders.

As early as the summer semester of 2023, I tried to have the students at the time play through the corresponding concept (war gaming), but I didn't take into account that this was way too big for an undergraduate course; Something like that probably belongs more in the direction of postgraduate studies.

Handicraft

As you know, my weblog has been looking to become leaner for a while now. And so I said goodbye to one or two web pages into digital nirvana - goodbye, that was it, without any backup.

One or two tools that I had grown fond of also left my server and since I was already there, I also separated myself from other digital offers that, if you take it a little more closely, actually only serve to get money into other people's cash registers wash. In addition, people simply put their data and their own work online - usually without knowing what will ultimately happen to it. And so the overarching motto of this “clearance campaign” was to get a little more control over your own products again.

Unfortunately, I lack the know-how and, above all, the time to become almost completely independent in this regard. The servers and the basic software remain outsourced - although my leap of faith has not been disappointed so far. Very few readers will notice the changes, so in the coming days I can take my time and revise one or two pages that have now become out of round. And since I have also changed my own information flow and the corresponding processing, I will have to see how everything shakes up again in the coming weeks. In any case, I'm still trying to turn this weblog into my own info hub, similar to what it already is Chris Aldrich power.

Long weekend

As is well known, at least for the readers of Detlef Sterns blog, this has nothing to do with the duration. But whether there is something for it Terry Pratchett I don't know what it has to do now. But this wasn't the only unanswered question after this weekend.

Two birthdays that were framed with a lot of routine and a few new things meant that Monday came quicker than I would have liked. It started with a leisurely stroll through the city, where I was once again able to discover that in every larger city there is really everything to buy and experience, as long as there is demand for the corresponding product or service. In the current case, I could Praline from Neuhaus I just can't resist the ones I've brought with me or been given on trips to Brussels. It is very pleasing that there are now enough people from Heilbronn who also appreciate these chocolates and a dealer who now also offers them for sale on Fleiner Straße.

A birthday on Saturday ensured that almost the entire family gathered in Heilbronn and at the end there was a game; once I was able to take 6 shots! I even won and that saved the day for me. A little less pleasing was my current favorite roast roast, which didn't have the usual meat quality, which you notice if you like roast roast "English" and this cannot be hidden by no matter how good the sauce. The kitchen also seems to have noticed this, because the roast was literally swimming in the sauce, which is not something to complain about at all, especially here in Heilbronn. As usual, the spaetzle was excellent and the sauce was without any ifs and buts - complaints at the highest level.

At the end of the evening there was the preparation of the upcoming lecture, which dragged on into Sunday because suddenly the individual fonts on the slides consisted of hieroglyphs and I had to do everything by hand - something so 1990s that I almost didn't feel like it lost on lecture. What made things even more difficult was that the first attempts at solving a task I had set arrived - some students also seem to prefer the darker hours for their studies - and after the first review I was certain that I would go back to the start, so not too many Students completely lose touch.

In order to get some more positive thoughts back, I decided to work on the presentation for the Europa Ball and, since the work has been very manageable so far, I set up an online shop for a young lady, which is just what you do when you already sit at your computer.

Another birthday on Sunday, when I stopped by, ensured that my time on the computer didn't drag on too long. But when I had to suffer one bitter defeat after another at Rummikub, I decided to tinker with the weblog a bit, since a book would have been a bit too difficult - and as we all know, tinkering is a good distraction from the daily grind.
