Demand

I'm always happy when people ask me about my blog posts. I'm well aware that a lot of my fellow citizens don't necessarily agree with me - which is probably not what anyone would expect.

What was new for me, however, was that I was asked why I didn't post a post that I published on a club's website my voice have asked. The next day I checked and sure enough, the post wasn't posted there. Yesterday I caught up on it and - to my complete astonishment - today you can already find exactly this article in the Heilbronner Stimme (March 8.3.2024, 29: XNUMX). Then this post couldn't have been so bad after all.

The integration of Revolvermaps on the home page of the blog now allows me to roughly see where my blog's readers come from - I assume that very few readers use VPNs or hide their IP addresses in some other way. And so I'm happy that my weblog is not only in demand locally. I would have an explanation for the requests from Sri Lanka, those from New Zealand surprise me a little. However, I simply record missing access from other regions as: Out of sight, out of mind.

Speaking of demand, the apartment I advertised now has 78 interested parties. I have read all inquiries and will only answer those that match the description of the apartment. In any case, it shows me once again that we have really run our country down! There should never ever be so many inquiries for an apartment that is only advertised to a very limited extent.

I very much regret that I cannot respond to all inquiries simply because of the lack of time - this is a novelty - and I hope that everyone looking for an apartment will soon find a suitable apartment for themselves! I console myself with the fact that I simply cannot save the world on my own and hope that the apartment on offer will find a resident who will appreciate it.

Stammtische

In addition to a few meetings, there were also two regular meetings - routinely. I left another regulars' table myself after a few years. It's pleasing that new people are always coming to the regulars' meetings and over the years I can observe who stays with us, immediately leaves again or appears like a comet "every few years", usually just for a little bit of themselves to shine. And so I had a very nice, albeit far too short, conversation with a friend and fellow regular who has been attending the European regulars' table with me for a good 18 years now.

But the really exciting thing is how regular tables interact with each other as small communication spaces and also interweave with each other - certainly depending on the respective individuals. This would certainly be worth further observation in more detail: sociologists, educators and even psychologists in particular would find topics for countless scientific treatises.

But the best conversation of the week came when I happened to sit next to a comrade and shortly afterwards we talked shop about T10, Noratlas, Transall, G3 and MG3; I only know the Noratlas from the museum - the rest is still state of the art here in Germany, just like the flipcharts on the Heilbronn campus of the TUM.

University

At the start of this year's summer semester there was a cup of coffee Detlef Stern at the HHN. Then I took a closer look at the local ILIAS and how many students have already registered for my lecture. Thanks to this learning platform, which I will probably continue to use only to store my lectures, I will soon know how many students are interested in the lecture in advance.

By the way, I realized that I could improve “my” slides a bit, not in terms of content, but certainly graphically; a task that Detlef Stern has long been automated. I also discovered that, as a Powerpoint junkie in the 1990s who got off this drug in the noughties at the latest, I am now using this software again for my lectures - which probably speaks more for Powerpoint than for its users. And so I look at the path that is almost envious Detlef Stern but then again I think that for me as a “volunteer” this would be slightly oversized - and a little bit of nostalgia doesn't do anyone any harm. But if you're an IT professional who still uses Powerpoint, you can go back to overhead projectors or even flipcharts - which could certainly fascinate some students, as retro websites are currently all the rage.
