miscellany

Today I was able to complete a project with very positive feedback. Before that I was allowed to come along Detlef Stern have a coffee; this time even with a look at Duckburg. Now I'm curious to see if I'll tackle this project again, but in any case there would be at least one change, because I didn't like my solution with the calculation paths that much.

This weekend should continue to be rainy, which is certainly good for nature, an upcoming birthday party less disturbing, but probably reduces my high jump experience a bit. But since I don't have to be at the start myself, I can take it a little more relaxed. Now I'm curious to see whether the two meter twenty will be tackled. As a consolation, I will then swing my dancing leg myself afterwards.

And to get in the mood for the weekend, here's the latest song by Sebastian Schaffer to listen.

flights of fancy

Uwe Ralf Heer (Heilbronnerstimme, August 4.8.2023th, 23: XNUMX) recognized it correctly "Soaring at the town hall - how symbolic ..." With us, soaring has been happening for a long time, if at all, then at most in front of the town hall.

The idea of performance has long been undermined and is now occasionally reinterpreted by business magnates as simply overtime for their own employees; performance is a lot more than just serving time. We actually have to reform a few things here in order to become internationally competitive again. It would help if top positions in business were also filled based on suitability, performance and ability. Because such executives can afford not to bring in any idiots and also see any kind of overqualification of their employees as an advantage.

And as long as we citizens of Heilbronn are only allowed into the town hall as pure petitioners, of course only after longer waiting times, little will change here on site. A modern, efficient and qualified administration could be very useful for all citizens as well as for the economy and society as a whole.

In the meantime, there are a number of infrastructure measures in Heilbronn that will really surprise everyone — especially those responsible for them. Word has gotten around that all school buildings in Heilbronn have to be renewed, because even the best building is no longer ideal as a school building after more than 100 years. The fact that Heilbronn would have to constantly renovate and rebuild the current number of school buildings is part of a normal administrative task and the necessary funds would have to be kept available in all households at all times.

It is probably even more surprising for everyone — no, no large event hall (!), because it is clearly one size too big for our city — other urgent construction measures are added. i.a. A modern sports stadium is long overdue for a city with over 130 inhabitants. But even more overdue is the replacement of the ice rink and especially the replacement of the indoor pool.

Here, the municipal council would have to actually get down to business and make very long-term and very expensive decisions! The first is whether we want competitive sport in Heilbronn or not. If so, then all of these three buildings above will be bigger and also more expensive. Competitive sport is neither possible with the preservation of the existing three buildings nor with a renovation or similarly large new buildings!

The second decision is whether we will continue to have ice sports in Heilbronn and whether we would like to treat ourselves to an ice skating rink for everyone. Such an ice sports stadium would certainly be a whole number larger than the current one.

The third and most important decision is what to do with swimming and learning to swim. If that's all we wanted, which is my personal preference by the way, then the Soleo could be completely renovated - after 50 years it's more than time (!) - and made available to schools and swimming clubs, as well as to all Heilbronners who actually swim their lanes there want to pull.

If we also want competitive sports, then the entire structure of the Soleo is too small, even if we dismantle the absolutely unnecessary fun pool features. I strongly recommend that those citizens who continue to stand in the water with a beer and a cigarette in their hand or who want to eat the pizza at the edge of the pool go to the more suitable baths, e.g. B. switch to Sinsheim. The construction and maintenance of a fun pool is still not a municipal task (!) - here we Heilbronner could definitely learn something from Neckarsulm.

If we also want to promote the idea of performance in swimming, it would actually make sense to add an indoor pool to the Neckarhalde and to make the outdoor pools available all year round. You could also enclose the already existing jumping facility.

As you can see, flights of fancy are always expensive! But some of them are absolutely necessary. Personally, I would be very happy if flights of fancy also took place in the town hall in the future.

federalists

The one discussed here recently Resignation of the UEF President including his very unlucky secretary general, was compensated surprisingly quickly. I'm very happy about that, because it confirms once again that everyone, really everyone, can be replaced.

The new interim president Domenec Ruiz Devesa I wish MEPs good luck and success. From November 24th to 26th, 2023 there will be a UEF congress in Brussels. Maybe the new crew even knows about the small but subtle difference between the UEF and European Congress.

“It is probably asking too much to demand healthy political thinking from an economically ailing people. "
