miscellany
The last two days there was the usual trip with the meseno bus, the completion of the obligatory club tasks and a small celebration. Thanks to my better half, the latter combined with delicious food.
At this point I would also like to thank you for the many congratulations. I almost have a guilty conscience about it, because due to my various crafts and games, I no longer have an overview of the birthdays in my immediate or wider area. Years ago I solved this challenge quite well with my own website, which I unfortunately gave up due to the completely excessive data protection regulations. Today I'm wiser and know that I could have at least backed up the birthday data in a local database. But since I have also given up all of my local databases, only a paper solution would have been an option and I am simply no longer willing to do that.
Alternatively, I could have entrusted this personal data to an email or other program - many obviously do this. But this solution has never really appealed to me, which is why I created my own corresponding website; Because the additional function, which was originally very practical on Linkedin and others, actually only works up to a certain number of people. Even if you only use the congratulations function prepared there, you would otherwise be busy for a good 30 minutes a day.
You see, I can't get out of this easily. And that's why I can be forgiven if I forgot another birthday.
European movement
Yesterday I discovered that... Website of the European Movement Baden-Württemberg but something was getting old; my better half wanted to post something there and technical problems arose. A quick look and I found that the last time I was active on this site was in May 2017.
A good six years of operation without any significant problems - at least I can't remember any - speak for the CMS and its installation.
And since I didn't have anything to do with the weblog at the moment, I went to the backend of the website. Less than 30 minutes later, my better half was happy with the website again. With a few less plugins and a new theme, I'm now on the safe side again - less is often more!
By the way, I have already written a blog post about the European movement. You can find this here.
I just find these “anti-social media” icons ugly: too big, too intrusive and then animated - like in the early days of the Internet...
This is a gimmick that I just indulged in once. By the way, you're not the first to make fun of it. But I'll see if I can make them a little smaller and maybe even a little less noticeable - but then again they're completely useless.
