voter turnout

Whether you like it or not, the level of voter turnout is an indicator of acceptance of democracy. Even if we have been glossing over the lack of voter turnout for decades and are so happy to claim that the citizens who do not go to the polls are simply satisfied with the overall situation, it is to be feared that these citizens are just not that dissatisfied with the overall situation to go to the barricades.

However, neither of these approaches speak for our democracy, especially when less than 20% of eligible voters even bother to cast their vote. And those election winners who were actually not elected by more than 80% of those entitled to vote should not let themselves be celebrated for it!

They should actually ask themselves how much they themselves are to blame for this lousy situation and what they can or must do better next time.

But so we citizens blame each other and claim on the one hand that the citizens are too stupid and too lazy for a democracy and on the other hand that our representatives are not the right ones for this task. The truth should lie somewhere in between, which is a sign of inadequacy for everyone involved.

art 07

The highlight of yesterday was a musical soirée by the Heilbronn club, whose name is short for culture and sport with tradition. Years ago, under the leadership of Sigrid Lipp their dance groups, the Heilbronner Majorettes and the Käthchenhochzeitszug merged into one association. I've known all of them for a good three decades, because KunST 07 was always a guarantee for good entertainment at the meeting point Europe.

For some time now, the association has been significantly influenced by Marion Amann with the support of Stephen Buck guided. A good dozen other board members and coaches keep the club going. I was particularly pleased yesterday that too Sigrid Lipp sat in the audience because that's a lot better than when we both meet in the hospital.

Even though "Musical and More" has been an integral part of the KunST 2001 program since 07, I was only able to take part in a performance at the Stadttheater this year. After a four-year hiatus, Musical and More magically made its way to Hollywood, and I got to attend the 15.00pm premiere with my better half.

I already knew that I would experience an interesting and entertaining program, also that everything would be organized very professionally. This time, as a mere spectator, I was able to experience for myself how much staff was involved in the background to bring such an extremely entertaining show to the stage.

The show was framed by two journalists and repeatedly enriched with local references. But the history of Heilbronn and the club was not neglected either. So I was able to experience one of the best performances of the Käthchen wedding procession and once again the majorettes; meanwhile the young ladies are likely to be the granddaughters of the first majorettes. I can't list all the highlights, because one highlight chased the other and there was always music that even made me dream, such as B. Queen or the Beach Boys. Even nicer that they also thought of the classics and brought them that way Carl Orffs Carmina Burana further mood in the performance.

I found that very nice Marion Amann himself danced with, and also Stephen Buck was often seen, I particularly liked the minuets. The performance as a whole was more than successful from start to finish and I firmly believe that you don't have to have your own children in one of the groups to find the performances of KunST 07 great.

If you didn't have the opportunity to attend one of today's two performances this year, you should secure tickets for the coming year now.

south town festival

The Südstadtfest took place yesterday for the 19th time. Last year it moved to the Edeka car park and this has definitely paid off, because there is now more space for the many stands. meseno has also been represented there for a few years.

Although the festival is almost on my doorstep, I actually only go there because of the meseno stand. And since other people who are interested in meseno also stop by there, it is always a good opportunity to exchange ideas with one another. And once you're there, you can immediately give the stand crew a little help. This time I managed to convey one or the other piece of jewelry to a new happy owner. I also saw a few issues that are particularly interesting for Donaldists and was able to hand them over to new people; I had spontaneously convened an online auction for this purpose. Now I'm curious to see if I could at least please this buyer a bit.

Incidentally, we had the opportunity to talk about a new Meeting Point Plus project. The meeting place has received a construction trailer. It should now be set up in front of the meeting point building during the summer holidays. For this must Frank Swiss clean up the former garden, remove an old fence and do some digging. Now we still need about 3 cubic meters of gravel and the transport to the house. The necessary vibrator is provided by the donor of the site trailer. In case they can or are happy to help with the procurement or transport of the gravel Frank Swiss If you would like to lend a hand, please let me know.

Today the meseno bus will take us back through our district.
