With announcement

Since it is slowly becoming apparent that in the coming federal government not all party politicians who have some say in their parties could be provided with ministerial or state secretary posts, the challenges for our country will probably be so great in the same legislative period that one can count on a new ministry or at least on further additional state secretaries.

But I am very happy to be taught better.

It is gratifying that those responsible are also talking about it, and once so motivated that the Heilbronner Voice (December 03.12.2021, 28: XNUMX) even reports on it. But no, it's not a problem because of the drinkers or drug addicts. These usually just sit around and don't bother anyone, in contrast to the increasingly frequent hordes of beggars.

As a suffering resident of Heilbronn, I would like to emphasize once again that it is primarily a problem of cleanliness and order. And yes, it is the problem of our city administration, and here especially that of the regulatory office, whose employees persistently refuse to do their job!

My decades of experience leads me to assert that the problem is not solved by hiring more staff who then also fail to perform their duties. It is also of no use now, as some city councilors and our administrative heads would like so much, to let even more consultants and even more experts earn something. The tasks of the public service are different than just getting “party soldiers” or donors as well as family members in wages and bread.

In any case, it is good that the municipal council is now dealing with the problem, which would not be necessary if the city administration were run professionally. But that's not what matters to us.

And I would advise those city councilors who are now once again demanding populist “feel-good zones” to ask when, for example, Turmstraße will finally be renovated — after more than 60 years (!) of mere promises, would it be about time?

The location on the Neckar has always been Heilbronn's locational advantage. Without the local Neckar routes and the crossing of two "European long-distance routes“ Our city would probably never have come into being. With the beginning of industrialization, Heilbronn was able to fully exploit this advantage by optimally linking water, rail and road on site.

Unfortunately, this is no longer the case today. The port and the port railway are becoming more and more obscure and even their connection to the two motorways could definitely be optimized. If the whole thing were brought back up to the state of the art and were prepared to serve the actual needs again, Heilbronn could again experience a tremendous upswing. Because then efficient handling of water, rail and road, which also has good storage and picking capacities, would guarantee numerous new jobs and prosperity secured for decades.

The federal government is already presenting this - but probably because of Stuttgart (!) - and would like to expand the Neckar locks for a 2050-meter ship capacity by 135. If you take a closer look, the federal government plans to expand the Neckar locks by 2050% for 50 meter ships by 135. And if you take into account that the funds provided will flow more into cycle expressways and other, even less necessary projects, you have to assume that the Neckar will probably only become an economical and, above all, environmentally friendly transport axis again from 2150 onwards.

But let's think positively and hope that in the near future we will elect politicians who actually think about the economy and the environment and who accordingly promote and accelerate the expansion of environmentally friendly transport routes. Then it could even happen - it would certainly not be rocket science - that the Neckar would actually be available in its entirety for modern goods transport by 2050.

Considering this, we would have to Heilbronn now think about how we can once again link road, rail and water in Heilbronn in the best possible way and also reserve or plan areas where jobs for storage and order picking can be created in the future - if only for the sake of the environment on site and not somewhere in the middle of nowhere .

If we do this now refrain, then from 2050 the 135-meter ships will also wave past Heilbronn.

Neckar expansion

"Inland shipping uses less energy than trucks and can transport larger volumes. In short: it relieves our roads. The expansion of the locks is therefore an important building block for achieving the climate goals.” (Winfried Herman)
