No matter where you look, whether in elementary schools or even at work, there is a system in which everyone is consistently underchallenged. Both willingness to perform and potential performance are the declared enemies of our society.

You orientate yourself more and more towards the lowest level and then try to undercut even this. So it's very gratifying to see when you ask a little more of young people in particular, they're more than willing to follow along and try to surpass the newly set benchmarks.

So, slowly but surely, a small competition develops for the benefit of almost all those affected. Unfortunately, however, this does not fit into the current image of man in our society, and I already know the corresponding answers. Even if you do something good for 99 out of 100 people and thus for society as a whole, it is still completely reprehensible because someone who doesn't want to or maybe can't go along with it could feel disadvantaged by it. It's bad, you don't even give this one person the chance to even try - and only logically, then not everyone else anymore!

It would certainly be better for everyone if we raised the bar again and then thought about how we can help those who, despite our best efforts, cannot exceed it.

So we continue to saddle the horse from behind, destroying everything we've ever achieved.

After a long back and forth, the EU Commission has actually officially initiated proceedings to cut EU funds against Hungary; the corresponding letter is said to have been sent to Budapest yesterday. However, it may be a long time before Hungary has money cut from the EU budget.

This would require the approval of at least 15 member states, which together represent at least 65 percent of the citizens of the Union. The EU rule of law mechanism is intended to ensure that violations of rule of law principles do not go unpunished; however, it must also be proven that these violations also pose a risk of misuse of EU funds.

For this reason, after receiving the letter from the Commission, Budapest will first comment on the allegations and, if necessary, take appropriate action. This must then be taken into account again by the EU Commission. Ultimately, however, it is the member states that will decide on a cut threatened by the EU Commission - and they have enough other problems to be able to at least delay such a decision further.

Already on November 28, 2020 Hans Müller EU rule of law mechanism wrote a blog post that I'm happy to recommend for further information. In any case, this shows very well how long the entire problem has been delayed by the EU.
