madness

I was just about to post the madness of the week when more contenders came along, so I had to rethink the whole thing. Third place is now a request for cooperation, which I received today from TUM, Campus Heilbronn. The underlying motto is obvious: we can do everything except German and English. What might still be acceptable at a German university is simply a no-go for a university!

At least one municipal council member who has probably rediscovered the term services of general interest now takes second place. And because of the upcoming municipal council elections, this discovery should now serve to clumsily catch votes. It would be better if these municipal councils continued to focus more on increasing their own income, which could then be accepted as a kind of service of general interest.

The term "dog license" comes in first place! One could perhaps see this as a job-creation measure and then welcome it if the parliaments do not grow any further. However, we must take the following into account.

Do we really want to live in a country where you need official proof to own a dog, but where any monster can continue to bring unlimited children into the world and destroy their lives forever? What are the priorities we are currently setting in our country?

The first answers automatically lead me back to the municipal council.

lecture

Currently I have — for my standards — a lot of lectures. Yesterday and today, for example, and next week two more.

The end of the semester is approaching and student demand is increasing. Now I'm curious to see how the students will do in the exam this time. I believe I can observe differences in the learning of the students in both semesters (winter and summer). This observation should or could be confirmed in the exam result. So it remains exciting here too.

For the first time I received an invitation to the faculty workshop at the end of the semester on June 28, 2023. Detlef Stern and I will both take part in it and so it will be a round thing for us for that reason alone.

Already on Friday I will be reading again at the Dammgrundschule and in the afternoon I will be giving private tuition at meseno. Actually three very different types of lectures, all of which serve to impart knowledge. And the same goes for my listeners, from elementary school to college, who are the same in all three school types: from bored to interested, from actively participating to passively enjoying, or even from successfully absorbing the material to one kind of educational resistance.

Twitter

Twitter, which will probably trade under X in the future, recently released a new gimmick, namely the community. I couldn't say no and once started my own business. This is currently called "Blogger World" and is intended to offer like-minded people a little more pleasant conversations on Twitter.

Having shut down or even deleted similar groups on other social media, I'm now trying on Twitter to see if the same action will lead to a different outcome this time — psychologists will now point out that there's something pathological about it. But maybe the Twitter community is actually a completely different one and that's why it just works.

In any case, I can report afterwards that I also tried this gimmick once. And those of my readers who have turned away from Twitter for a while, since this is just another medium from trolls for trolls, can now see whether a very restrictive use of Twitter might not be so bad after all. For my part, I've tried Twitter a number of times and since I mostly just block or mute others, I've actually been able to derive a small benefit from Twitter.

But I can't say whether I'll still be able to go along with the announced changeover to X later on. Social media come and go, but personal weblogs will remain.
