overeating

Good and rich food is a luxury that far too many hardly appreciate anymore. And as with most other things, it's always better not to go all out; the right measure is the much-sung golden mean.

And you can tell a lot when it comes to eating. There are certainly people who appreciate good food and develop a real passion for it, but they are rarely more than well nourished and, I would like to call it that, a bit full. But they never get fat!

Why people get fat is now a much-discussed topic in our country. And the answers offered are unpopular with most people. On the one hand, and certainly in the first place, it is the problem of primary processors in an affluent society. Stuffing is easier and not nearly as exhausting as having sex. And in an affluent society, sleeping in has long since lost its aura of luxury and is therefore simply being replaced by eating more.

A second answer is that people are completely overwhelmed. They just can't handle themselves at work or in the rest of their lives, so eating becomes a kind of skip act that causes those affected to get fat.

If you see someone who is fat or is getting fatter, you don't have to assume that they are seriously ill, because there is no such thing as "obesity". But you should find out whether this person is simply a primary processor or whether they are completely overwhelmed with themselves and their world.

With the former, you can help immediately and try to get these people to develop interests of their own, preferably unrelated to food intake.

With the latter, on the other hand, you are usually powerless, unless they are politicians. You can also help them immediately and very sustainably by no longer choosing them. And until then, help them by not serving them at the buffet or allowing them to keep pushing each other to eat.

There is even an old but unfortunately long-forgotten principle: the boss comes last!

And please remember that anyone who queues up to eat also does so on other occasions — and this is usually not for the good of the general public.

Christmas Market

Now that it's obvious that those who could get vaccinated but don't are just anti-social subjects, it's time we responded as a society and put some restrictions on things of our own.

So it would be a good thing if the Christmas market operators didn't wait for someone to make a decision - politicians will certainly wait until the end of the day - but simply introduced the 2G regulation proactively and to protect us all.

Administrations that feel halfway responsible could then even make adjustments and check those who are supposedly vaccinated to ensure that the criminals are filtered out and thus further increase the protection of the population.

If we don't start taking care of ourselves, politicians will soon announce the simplest solutions again: house arrest and curfews for everyone - except for politicians.

Ergo, if you still want the Christmas markets, you should provide them with a 2G regulation as soon as possible!

privacy advocate

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been increasingly inundated with advertising e-mails, not only as a private person, but above all as the chairman of a club and sometimes also as a member of another club.

Since I have always dealt with my inbox myself and I keep combing through SPAM and other filters in order not to miss any relevant post, the amount of time I spend on this increases enormously. And that every day.

So I'm really happy that we also have a state officer for data protection and freedom of information in Baden-Württemberg; this is since 2017 dr Stefan Brink. I am even more pleased that his department works very well with the corresponding departments in other countries.

This makes it very easy for every citizen to contact their "own" data protection officer in the event of a complaint, who will then, if necessary, forward the process to the responsible office.

As I said, my experience has been very positive, even if it has already resulted in me getting a call from a company owner who accused me of ruining his company because he now had to pay a fine of 25 euros.

Other companies, especially in the field of medical technology, are obviously completely indifferent to such threats of fines, as they continue to shower me with unauthorized advertising despite inquiries. I'm assuming that at some point these companies will either no longer want to pay fines - because it's just annoying - or that these funds will reach such a level that even such companies will feel it a little bit.

In any case, complaints to the state commissioner for data protection and freedom of information give you a good overview of the obvious profit margins in individual sectors.

State representative for data protection and freedom of information

Data protection is a fundamental right, and if you consider how much of our lives are stolen when companies or people abuse it, it is also a very, very important one.
