Montages can also be very satisfying, I've never had any problems with them myself as I've already prepared them on Saturdays or Sundays. Rummikub is a another game, which has fascinated our family for years and has completely replaced rummy, whether German rummy or canasta. Even pinochle, which we used to play across families, no longer plays a role today. But that can also be because not only is the world changing, but new generations simply prefer other games.
So it's amazing how long chess has been able to survive worldwide. Although I've gotten used to constantly losing to a computer, my better half hasn't left the board as the second winner in all these decades - this is how the "fights" with Rummikub will be fought tonight.
