Performance schools

Even those least educated citizens now know that our public education system is broken. And no party will invest in education today, at least as long as they have to finance defined benefit pensions and company cars.

All “important” fellow citizens have long been sending their children and grandchildren to private schools, which are springing up like mushrooms in our country because, among other things, you can earn a lot of money from them. Depending on your budget or connections, you can easily get the qualifications you want there - that was already the case when I was at school, when one or two “school dropouts” suddenly returned to Heilbronn with a high school diploma.

If we still want to save our country, we need high-performance schools in the public education system, at least in the larger cities, from primary schools to general high schools. Access to this takes place via an intelligence test and set minimum requirements. Anyone who doesn't reach the class goal has to leave school again and, if everyone reaches the goal, the worst three students have to leave. The resulting gaps can be filled by newcomers who meet the requirements and only the best of them.

In this way we can ensure that at least willing and capable students - and especially those who do not have capable parents - can go to university or make a living as very good employees in our companies and businesses.

Relaxation

This morning I was able to do a few relaxing laps in the city pool. Thanks to the kind help of a younger lady who let me take the ride, probably because she could no longer watch me hobble through the water. That's what happens when you can no longer complete your trains as regularly as before.

Now I'm motivated to go to the indoor swimming pool more often - hopefully it stays as clean and tidy as it is today. At the end, I relaxed in the outdoor pool and thought about whether I should answer a Juso who recently recommended to me that I make sure that there are no anti-democrats among the Free Voters. In contrast to the SPD, I can say with a clear conscience that all is well with us in this regard. Free voters don't need party registers to wash away their sins, big and small.

Old Nazis

It should come as no surprise to anyone that there were National Socialists after 1945. Rather, some people made no secret of it and flaunted their criminal profits throughout their lives - including here in Heilbronn. Many of these criminals became, and perhaps even because of this, such honorable citizens.

It was also known that the worst henchmen allowed themselves to be cleared through the party books of the CDU, CSU, FDP and SPD and simply continued their careers - far too rarely were they caught and even less often punished.

Thanks Susanne Wein Another criminal has now been brought to light. So far it was mine Dr. Hans Hoffmann As mayor of Heilbronn, he was only known for his escapades in office, which he was able to live out in Heilbronn without any major problems until 1983. In the end he even received a second Federal Cross of Merit for this. Now we know that he was one of the first Nazis ever and that, as an SS Oberscharführer, he was certainly not without blame.

I think it's good that the city administration is thinking about taking away the city's Ring of Honor, which he received in 1977. I find it very sad that this man was mayor of Heilbronn in the 1970s, when there was increasing debate about old and neo-Nazis here (e.g. about the Filbinger affair in 1978) - he has to be there probably really bent.

I don't think it's as good that people want to keep his picture, which hangs very prominently in the entrance area of our town hall, there. Just imagine how descendants of victims of the Nazi dictatorship must feel when they are greeted by an SS man who grins at them in a very friendly manner every time they walk to the large council chamber.

It would be better if the picture were handed over to the city archives for safekeeping. I bet that hardly anyone from Heilbronn will notice this - this was already the case with the European flag. This also prevents the danger that the Heilbronn town hall will now become a place of pilgrimage for all anti-democrats from near and far.
