miscellany

I have to today Josip Juratovic praise, because he said what we all slowly but surely have to acknowledge, namely that today's AfD voters would certainly have voted for the NSDAP before 1945. That doesn't mean that all NSDAP voters are also Nazis, there are definitely just idiots and criminals among them - although one does not have to exclude the other.

Those politicians who constantly sugarcoat this can now be assumed to either only want to fish on the far right or, even worse, to imagine coalitions with anti-democrats in the future. In the CDU, at least, there are already beginnings of such cooperation, which is not surprising, since many a neo-Nazi today was or perhaps still is a Union politician yesterday, because even corresponding party exclusion procedures have come to nothing.

And those who see Nazi comparisons as a mere trivialization of National Socialism have to put up with the accusation that they are trivializing the racist and fascist as well as National Socialist statements and thoughts of many AfD politicians and voters. But this coincides quite well with the dilemma of today's Nazis, who are really proud of their sentiments but still don't want to be called that in public - at least not until they can assassinate others again or put them in concentration camps.

It is more gratifying today that people in the voice of Heilbronn are beginning to ask whether the Katie figure is still contemporary at all. I've always said that no — I was probably more emancipated as a boy than many of my contemporaries.

It is even more gratifying that voice journalists are now also finding out about the meaning and purpose of the current traffic control system start to think, if only because of the exorbitant acquisition costs and even more so because of the nonsensical maintenance costs. Let's not talk this time about the partly completely meaningless advertisements, which are more of a traffic hazard than a guide.

But yesterday morning was almost the most pleasing for me when a few free voters were able to support meseno. Anyone interested will find it here is the post I wrote about it. But that was surpassed by a McDonald's employee I met during my walk in the middle of the pedestrian zone collecting garbage. I can't say whether this was the employee's own initiative or whether McDonald's is now doing it that way, but in any case it was the best action of yesterday!

Jazz

In May 1980 took bass player Barry Phillips zusammen mit Aina Kemanis (singing voice), John Surman (saxophone and clarinet), Herve Bourd (saxophone and flute), Claudia Phillips (singing voice) and Pierre Favre (drums) in Ludwigsburg on a record that some jazz lovers still regard as groundbreaking. The record title simply "Music by ..."

When I realized the first track on the record was called 'Twitter' I just had to buy it. And the first listen to the record — my better half gets on my nerves — brings back good memories for me. Unfortunately, I can no longer hear the vocals clearly enough to understand the lyrics, but that doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the music. And the piece "Longview" on the second page will still be a little better known to some today.

Ana Roxanne writes in the New York Times:

"This piece has elements of a drone without sounding like one at all. Also, within avant jazz I tend to prefer vocals that lean more toward consonance, and so I admire the singers' experimentation with sound, syllable and melody all while keeping a steady structure and never sounding stale, creating a soothing element to a lilting frenetic undercurrent of horns and percussion. … I appreciate that a bassist who assigned himself to such few notes can keep such dynamicism.”

added Value

A cute 53 square meter apartment in Heilbronn's pedestrian zone will soon be available for rent. Although it does not have a car parking space, it does have its own basement room.

Minimalists feel in this one two-room apartment certainly very well. The larger room has a built-in kitchenette. Both rooms and the bathroom are connected via a hallway. The hallway has a floor-to-ceiling built-in closet. The bathroom has a shower and the possibility to connect a washing machine.

The apartment was completely renovated in 2015 and has gas central heating. Both a cable and a telecom connection are available.

The apartment is currently getting a new floor covering, after which it will be officially advertised for rent. Until then, the readers of my weblog have the opportunity to find out more about the apartment in advance if they are interested.

"Nazi ideology cannot be summarized in a program or platform. It can be better understood as a maelstrom of prejudices, passions, hatreds, emotions, resentments, biases, hopes, and attitudes that, when combined, most often resembled a religious crusade wearing the mask of a political ideology.”

Jonah Goldberg, Liberal Fascism (2009: 55)

  • A few years ago, the municipal regulatory office informed me that the staff of McDonald's and Burger King were required by law to collect their own disposable packaging within a defined radius of their branches.

  • An overall good event with the Heilbronn members of the Bundestag, factual, respectful discussion and an example of democracy in action. This can and must also be defensive. One wishes for more of it and also likes to look ahead to the Hertenstein Talks.
