Privatization

Certain administrative tasks and associated services can be privatized, especially when the administrations themselves can no longer adequately ensure this and an urgently needed optimization of the administration is undesirable. However, privatizing infrastructure has never been a good idea and will lead to serious damage to society as a whole in the long term at the latest. Unfortunately, politicians are also only human and, especially with appropriate incentives, can be seduced into simply ignoring this knowledge as well.

That's why we can read today that regional transport in and around Heilbronn is still not fulfilling its tasks. The extra committed private Railway company Abellio will have to be renovated shortly after the start — probably at our expense — and we will continue to have to do without a modern railway infrastructure and a modern fleet of vehicles.

name changes

Actually, I'm not a fan of unnecessary name or term changes, which are usually only intended to give the appearance of activity. Yesterday's Renaming of Uhlandplatz in Max Beermann-But I support space because of our own history without ifs and buts. Just as I still very much welcome the renaming of Kaiser-Wilhelm-Platz to Friedensplatz.

But even today I still consider the renaming of the station forecourt to be very unfortunate, one could have used the Kaiser-Friedrich-Platz, which still exists today, much better.

But it would be even better if people in Heilbronn completely avoided naming squares and streets after politicians or other people, because this is a relic from pre-democratic times. And even here, a few hundred years ago, we were much more advanced, more modern and far ahead of today; Mannheim can serve as an example.

Appearances

Every deployment of armed forces requires a strategy, which must be delivered by politics (keyword: primacy of politics). As soon as there is a coordinated, accepted and, above all, approved political strategy, it must be transferred into a military strategy and, in Germany, approved again by the Bundestag. This military strategy can then be operationalized, which may also lead to military operations.

Since we do not even have a viable concept for the Bundeswehr, let alone a strategy that could justify the deployment of soldiers, it is not surprising that our soldiers keep falling victim to their own policies.

The Bundeswehr was in Afghanistan for 20 years, never had a concept that was even remotely viable, let alone a strategy justifying the operation, but it also suffered, among other things, 59 soldiers killed in action, and all of this - quite logically - without a single positive and to achieve lasting change in this country of operation. It doesn't even need to be mentioned that the whole thing cost billions of euros in taxpayers' money.

site of the day

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)

Despite all the adversities, NATO is still the only military-political organization that is still fulfilling its task. Let's hope that this organization will remain with us for as long as possible.
