Rarely have I devoured a book as much as "La Grande Confrontation - Comment Poutine fait la Guerre á nos Démocraties" by Raphael Glucksman, which was released in March 2023. Admittedly, the conditions were also excellent, because after a long walk on the beach the weather was so good that I was able to spend the rest of the day in the jacuzzi.

Another advantage, since the author's son Andre Glucksman is, which I read during my studies, and he probably because of the father could not help but to in his book Friedrich Hölderlin and Martin Heidegger to quote what I read in the jacuzzi last year. Last but not least, it was the topic that appealed to me very much, especially since I followed the statements and conclusions made in the book Raphael Glucksman could follow all too well.

The book contains the Who's Who of European politics, those who Vladimir Putin worked together from the start or even let him lubricate them. Only Francois Hollande, Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelenskyy come off well with the book. I go a bit further than Glucksmann and claim that we would all be living in a GDR 2.0 by now if the Americans returned in 2020 Donald Trump voted — which, by the way, would not significantly change the current composition of European governments.

But Glucksmann speaks of a major confrontation and does not mean a dispute over political ideologies, but only the fight that we democrats are all currently waging against the "rule of crime". He explicitly uses the German term and also refers to Dr. Mabuse, a super criminal created by Norbert Jacques was invented. And the statement is clear: the mass murderer and criminal Vladimir Putin is waging a war against all democracies with his entourage, which he has bought together over the past 20 years.

"Car la corruption n'est pas qu'une affaire de normes et de codes, c'est d'abord un problème d'état d'esprit, une question de vertu civique et d'éthos politique."

Raphael Glucksman, La Grande Confrontation (2023:142)

He closes the main part of his book with the following statement, expressing the age-old hope that Poland is not yet completely lost. (Jozef Wybicki.

"Il est temps de dire et de montrer ce que nous sommes et ce que nous voulons être."

Raphael Glucksman, La Grande Confrontation (2023:172)

"C'est cette histoire de corruption et de trahison que je veux raconter. … Tout commence toujours par la corruption des classes dirigeantes.”

Raphael Glucksman, La Grande Confrontation (2023: 19f)
