As I feared, the planned and vital filling of the “defense budget” honey pot is making all politicians angry. Not because they are peace-loving or even want to support the Bundeswehr and its soldiers, but simply because there are tried and tested and previously unimagined new earning opportunities - hundreds of billions of euros in tax money want to be distributed to the people, but rather to the members of parliament become.
And, in order to be able to serve every cousin and party soldier, the SPD is even thinking about reactivating compulsory military service. This not only ensures that taxpayers' money is wasted as quickly as possible, but it can also secure new and completely unnecessary jobs for thousands of party members in brand new authorities and other organizations.
Meanwhile, the other parties are speculating that they can at least do something good for their own MPs with ABC mask and ammunition sales or their brokerage.
As we have come to know during COVID-19, this behavior is neither reprehensible nor illegal for us.
