Does an open society need anonymity? What are the reasons why people only use a false name on the Internet?

I am firmly convinced that we would have a much better debate culture again if all participants could muster the courage to represent their opinions using their own names.

In any case, the insults would decrease. And so I suspect that the end of anonymity is also the end of social media.

And so I can already hear the anti-democrats of all stripes shouting in unison that in Germany you are not allowed to say whatever you want. And that we also have no freedom of expression.
