Where am I?

And by that I of course also mean where you, my dear reader, are, or at least where you think you are. I'm not thinking about the place where you are right now, but rather the place in your own body where you think you actually are.

A short and non-representative survey over the holidays showed that other people besides me also settle in their heads, i.e., look at the rest of their bodies as if they were from outside, as if they weren't actually there or it was just a kind of appendage own being.

The people I interviewed said that they feel at home in their own head because that is where the information that comes to them is processed. In addition, because most of the classic five and other senses are also located in the head. In this regard, it would certainly be exciting to know where a blind deaf mute thinks he is.

When people didn't yet know that thinking takes place in the head and that the heart was of very central importance, did they already think that it actually only takes place in their heads?

And can humans, as depicted in some science fiction, be reduced to just the head or even the brain and are we still human or at least our own self?

Which now leads us again to the age-old question of whether the world outside of our own thoughts even exists? If you would like to answer this in the affirmative because you are currently reading these lines, I would like to ask you straight away whether I am perhaps just a figment of your own imagination?
