With this feed reader I also let other bloggers, journalists and authors have their say. I also place some articles and posts in the category Bookmarks away; A few of them also go into my note box.

Digitale Souveränität ist eigentlich ein definiertes Ziel der Ampelregierung. Doch wird genau an dem Thema gespart und stattdessen werden Hunderte von Millionen in Microsoft.Produkte investiert. Trotz massiver Bedenken der US-Behörden bezüglich der Sicherheit der Microsoft-Lösungen.... Read more

It has been learned that supermarket prices in Austria have risen sharply recently and no one really knows why. Hmm. Could it be that the Austrian retail sector is also dominated by a cartel made up of a handful of providers (Hofer/Aldi, Schwarz/Lidl, Billa, Spar, ...) that have little competition and are therefore largely free when it comes to pricing have a hand? Just ask. You could do some research.***The AfD is so strong because women have too many rights and there is too much gender discrimination, unfortunately there is nothing you can do other than become a right-wing radical— ELHOTZ O... We haven't had a supply chain apocalypse report in a long time. Here's a nice one.A guy logs in an S3 bucket for testing. Play around a bit. Does not upload or download files. Completes his actual task, checks again to be on the safe side that he stayed in the free tier with his few bytes of test traffic. Finds a bill for $1300. Turns out: Some dirty open source project has a backup to S3 functionality built in , and entered the equivalent of "example.com" in the config file, and that was exactly his bucket. Yes, but he didn't give them any permissions, so nothing was uploaded! True, but AWS also calculates error messages. So if you have a bucket and someone can guess the name, then it doesn't matter how awesome your ACLs are set. As long as it's accessible from the Internet, someone can blow up your traffic bill. But what does that have to do with a supply chain apocalypse, you ask? Well, he then set upload permissions for a few minutes as a test to see who wanted to access it. I opened my bucket for public writes and collected over 10GB of data within less than 30 seconds. Yes, cool ey! In the past, you had to break into something if you wanted to steal the data! Oh and of course Amazon has already tricked around to drive up the costs. Another question was bugging me: why was over half of my bill coming from the us-east-1 region ? I didn't have a single bucket there! The answer to that is that the S3 requests without a specified region default to us-east-1 and are redirected as needed. And you pay extra for that redirected request. You want to become a customer of a company like that!!1!

Landing pages have been a thing for people on social media for years. The principle is simple: Instead of having to laboriously search for a person on the individual platforms, they simply always have the same landing page stored in their respective profile. All of their profiles are listed in a stylish overview, so that you can now easily follow the new influencer on Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky or Mastodon with just a few clicks. That is practical. And in times of fragmentation of the former Twitter classroom, it is probably more important than ever so as not to lose sight of the people. As... Read more

There are said to have been times when traitors would have been brought before the next peloton and shot after a very short trial. You could almost say that various AfDers are really lucky to live in these left-green times. All joking aside: Can we finally agree that the AfD can't be given any 'content' because it either turns absolutely everything into a triumph over the 'old media' or the 'old parties' or presents itself as their victim, like you do Espionage and corruption allegations against Bystron and Krah will really have some impact. Dealing with Russia or China... Read more

The long week was once again a little shorter. That's why I went to college more. Immediately Monday. Exam inspection. One person tried to turn it into an exam discussion. But then there were too many missing points to the saving bank. I thought it was nice that there were some people there who had passed their exam and wanted to recognize their weaknesses. They were always somewhere else than expected. Finally students who don’t just want to play “four in a row”. Even before the trip to the educational Disneyland campus, the eBike said: “Error “727”. Please report it to the dealer.” Which I dutifully did. Previously I asked the internet what this code meant.... Read more

This is the second part of the blog posts on the topic of coffee, you can find the first part here. The coffee world will change Quite a challenging title – why will the coffee world change? In my opinion it will have to change or is already changing. Climate change and diseases that destroy entire harvests due to monocultures and the lack of resilience of Arabica varieties, as well as the decline in available cultivation areas, are factors that will make coffee more difficult to grow in the future and therefore more expensive.... Spotify, is it still working? It would be a great thing if every reader would visit the blog directly. I'm just saying... I'm glad I probably made my blog unsafe here just so I could authenticate myself to Spotify. Really, you can believe me when I say that I think it's good that there's a frame from Spotify in the sidebar. They didn't realize otherwise that the domain www.henning-uhle.eu belongs to me, Henning Uhle. I laughed so hard. But don't think that the store is of any use to me. On the contrary, he does...  The month is almost over again and it's time for the finds of the month. Please buckle up, a lot has come together again.Politics. Robert Misik on the 'processing' of the Corona measures. I think the last sentence of the first paragraph explains a lot."Politicians [...] had to make decisions based on recommendations, under conditions of uncertainty, which were sometimes correct, sometimes too lax, sometimes too strict. Those affected by the norms , as the citizens are called in technical jargon, some reacted irritably. Some felt that they were exposed to an unnecessarily high risk of death, others felt that they were being controlled by authoritarian measures, and in general there was a much more existential, blatant... Kerning type on a yard waste bin is challenging, but it needed to be done because otherwise the city won't pick up the contents. I'd previously tried using this sticker below but it kept falling off. I don't think these new sticker letters will last either, but the plan is to get spray paint and use them as a reverse stencil. In other news, we completed watching all episodes of 30 Rock over dinner tonight (my first time seeing the entirety). The series had been a delightful no-brainer for TV time. The Fediverse struggles to utilize the full potential of the various Activity Objects, mainly for fear of misrepresenting them or misrepresenting them, and that's why unfortunately most major networks only share Notes. Horror, I left my cell phone at home. And that on a day when I'm not home before 16.00 p.m. Too bad I only noticed this once I got on the public transport. So way too late. There was simply no time to get out and drive back again to get the essential utensils. Well, then I grudgingly accepted being without my smartphone for the next ten hours. So it was a working day like probably 1996. Just a PC and an email. And that's why here's a list about... ...things that don't happen over the course of the day... Read more

The week started well with a nice prescriber: alternative. Presumably it also has something to do with the digitally naive. The visit to Linkedin was worth noting. Many people use this as a Facebook replacement. I also have an account there and always copy the URIs of my blog posts into it. A lot of people seem to come here because of that. I always ask myself who doesn't know RSS. Probably around 20 people have subscribed to this blog via RSS (actually currently Atom). Roughly the same number read it via the Linkedin app. What you can get from the list of visiting user agents. The ability to... Read more

Unknown Circumstances - Turn the controls until they stop It would be a great thing if every reader would visit the blog directly. I'm just saying... I'm done. After months I finished the track “Unknown Circumstances”. What a hellish ride that I had abandoned often enough. The piece was important to me, and I failed at it endlessly, did everything else, gave up and stopped, and wanted to delete the entire project more than once. Then I got it... Read more

High-ranking visitors had been announced in Munich in beautiful weather. None other than Mr. Kubiwahn asked for a small blogger meeting in the state capital weeks ago. With him and Mr. Rau I found myself in the company of real blogging veterans. Or to use Armin's metaphor: I was an inch pebble among milestones. It was nice, even if it was quite short (which was due to how I planned my weekend). And delicious. The Faun in the Glockenbachviertel now has some good culinary options. The bowls are highly recommended. I really like meetings like this. Seeing people you've interacted with online for years... Read more

LOL of the week was the announcement that the shutdown of the so-called old world, i.e. the computers from the cyberattack-infested network, is currently being postponed indefinitely. There are definitely good reasons for this, which I would probably agree with if in doubt. What's much more LOL is how the shutdown dates come about, probably rarely purely objectively. It always brings me back to one of my Ceterum Censeo: what if we applied the standards we apply to our students to decisions in my context? Speaking of which, apparently there is a connection between (perceived) importance and rambling statements. Today: Summaries of apps in the App Store, also in the Play Store.... Read more
