After it now seems to be common in the academic world, for pages Socrates to quote, a lot more people should actually think about what this 'quoting' is all about.
A first hint can Wikipedia give, but unfortunately this does not protect against the fact that far too many fellow human beings use quotations which then do not stand up to examination afterwards.
Therefore, it should become a matter of course that you only use quotations if you are sure about their origin.
Irrespective of this, over the years I myself have collected quotes whose authors I did not know, originally with the intention of being able to identify them. A few years ago I discontinued this endeavor and the remaining unclaimed quotes in one own contribution summarized.
By the way, one of my favorite quotes comes from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and can be found in the book Wilhelm Meister's Years of Apprenticeship (Fifth Book - First Chapter):
"One should ... hear at least a little song every day, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, speak a few sensible words."
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
In the coming weeks I will add more quotes to this website and I hope that I can bring some joy to one or the other.
