loser cult

I claim that for some time now we have been celebrating a kind of cult of losers, we only throw around euphemisms and everything, quite logically, has to be at least “super”.

We don't even have to think of the countless trash TV formats on private television, which now even have their followers in public broadcasting.

The way we treat our own remaining offspring is characteristic of this. "Education must not be strenuous" can already be read on election posters, performance tests or even grades in schools are increasingly frowned upon, not to mention the selection or promotion of the best. The school and education system is no longer there to support the functioning of our society or even to issue a personal certificate to every citizen, but solely to give every individual a good feeling and at the same time make everyone equal - and this as cheaply as possible - ergo, open the lowest common denominator.

This system takes effect, at least on the part of the state, even later, in that in precarious situations, whether self-inflicted or not, whether helping or refusing, no distinction is made - everyone gets the same, and even sanctioning refusal is frowned upon. Ultimately, there will be a well-intentioned “performance pension” for everyone, whether they lose or not.

In return, top performers — the so-called middle class — are taken into full recourse with the aim of making actual performance as unattractive as possible. Those who work today no longer work for themselves for most of the year. The times when you could achieve and, above all, secure adequate prosperity through your own work are finally over. The so-called tax evasion can be taken as an indication of this, in my opinion it is not the result of criminal behavior, but purely out of self-defense, because the state denies medium-sized businesses what it readily grants to large corporations or very special people.

Instead of a healthy middle class supporting society, we are now allowing an ever-growing regulatory apparatus to take more and more decisions about which of us, where, how and when, is allowed to build an existence that is dependent on state decisions .

Worse still, all of us again give preferential treatment to the losers, who above all have gotten themselves into trouble, by "subsidizing" or even "saving" them with hundreds of billions of taxpayers' money, but in return the savings of the the remaining middle class will continue to "melt down", or even the tax, fee and levy burdens will continue to rise, especially for small and medium-sized businesses.

This can also be seen very recently in the COVID-19 rescue package for small and medium-sized businesses: the entrepreneurs are not compensated on the basis of their profit, but solely on the basis of their "consumption", which means that those who have actually made a profit beforehand now get less than those who constantly managed on the fringes of their own existence. At the end of the pandemic, the former are again asked to pay more.

Not only do losers, on the whole, actually live quite well at the expense of all of us — no matter what economic situation we all may be in at the moment — but we also value them very highly, happily court them, and often receive a price in the process Top manager of "Deutschland AG" or cult status as "Entrepreneur of the Year".

Germany is constantly looking for the "super star", but unfortunately more and more often in the completely wrong place! And certainly not where the most taxes are paid or jobs are created.

This cult of losers is especially popular in politics. Gone are the days when election losers withdrew from politics on their own; on the contrary, failure in office justifies a higher one, and proven incompetence leads to the highest positions in government — and even that has been achieved Peter principle meanwhile taken ad absurdum.

The recruitment of young political talent is also based entirely on the cult of losers. Those who have no educational qualifications or who have swindled them are happy to be supported; later they get this in office, as compensation, so to speak, from "tree nurseries" or from the scientific service of the Bundestag "awarded".

It is best, however, if the future top politician can prove that he would have to sleep under bridges without a party membership - then at least the office of federal minister will be in his political cradle.

"Dieter Bohlen has earned the Federal Cross of Merit. He is a flagship for Germany.”

Monika Griefahn, BILD newspaper (June 21, 2003)
