...or just how it all began. Inspired by the blogger Chris Aldrich, my chronologically first blog post here on Kümmerle's weblog is now dated to the day of my birth.
My father originally comes from Brackenheim (grandfather) and grew up in Weinsberg (great-grandmother) and Heilbronn (grandmother). My mother was born in Essen, where the father (grandfather) comes from Baden and the mother (grandmother) from Königsberg, and grew up in Sontheim and later in Heilbronn.
And so, as far as my grandmother in Heilbronn is concerned, I have roots that reach as far as Altböckingen (West Franconia), but also East Prussian roots from my grandmother in Königsberg. The grandfathers ensure that both Baden and Württemberg influences are added and so, as I was born directly in the city of Heilbronn (not Sontheim!), I should have noticed the right Heilbronner blend right from birth.
I would love to be able to tell you about the day I was born, but unfortunately my own memories date back to when I was three years old at best. Therefore, the chronologically following blog post will have to wait a little longer.
