Philippe's sixtieth

We are all getting older, and so it was unavoidable that we were able to celebrate our first 60th birthdays with friends a few years ago. But this year it is piling up a little. Yesterday started Philip Mendel, whom we met with his family in 1998 when we moved to Müllheim.

And so we took the opportunity to spontaneously pay him a visit on his special day. Not surprisingly, we found him in his gallery working on new projects, at least for me.

For me it's simply a beautiful thing to be able to observe an artist over the years and to see how he refines his skills more and more and, over several phases, finds his very own style.

Even though I'm always very positively surprised by the completely new ideas Philippe comes around the corner with, and I usually really like them, I'm still his biggest fan when it comes to his "horizon". . My better half continues to rave about his house pictures, which he summarizes under "Catalunya".

Of course, at his 60th, the artist himself was in the foreground, and so Dorothea and Nastassja had prepared some delicacies. And since Philippe is now also a grandfather, we were also able to admire Amélie, whose dad, Camille, we hadn't seen in a while. Unfortunately, the rest of the family was not present due to work or COVID-19, so we will have to wait for another opportunity to be fully up to date again.

Short insertion: 21 years earlier when saying goodbye to Müllheim

Farewell evening on December 9, 2000

I already had it in mine Post about MendelArt mentioned that a visit to this gallery is definitely worth a trip to the southern Black Forest. To make this visit even more attractive for you, Philippe has assured me that he will give you 10% off each picture if you tell him that you went to Müllheim based on my recommendation.

In any case, his gallery invites you to browse and I think that you are not only very surprised at the variety of art Philippe can come up with, but that you always find something yourself that you can take home with you with a clear conscience .

And if you have very specific ideas or conceptions, then you can also talk to Philippe about whether he can implement them. So today I found a picture of him that Angela Merkel as a Swabian housewife in a Black Forest costume. Unfortunately, I could not find out who this order came from.

But I liked his new Black Forest landscapes far better.

You can start your visit at Atelier Mendel Art quite simply about e-mail or phone +49 7631 173259.

"Ma definition d'une oeuvre d'art serait, si je la formulais: Une oeuvre d'art est un coin de la creation vu à travers un tempérament. Que m'importe le leftovers. Je suis artiste, et je vous donne ma chair et mon sang, mon cœur et ma pensée."

Émile Zola, Mes Haines (1893 [1866]:25)
