The Doors have been a topic here on the blog more than once and I have also linked “The End” (1967) here before. For a specific reason, namely correcting term papers, this song has now made it to the music video of the week. Detlef Stern A few years ago I was convinced that correcting is easier with appropriate music.
“The End” is on the first LP “The Doors” of the group, together with, among others, “Light My Fire” or “Back Door Man” (cover of a Howlin' Wolf song from 1960) .
The group around Jim Morrison was founded in 1965 on Venice Beach. In 1973, the band broke up again, which was certainly due to the death of their co-founder and singer. In addition to Morrison, the group consisted of Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore.
Also worth mentioning is the sixth album “LA Woman” (1971) with the two songs “LA Woman” and “Riders on the storm“. After recording this record, Jim Morrison to Paris, where he died shortly afterwards.
While I listen to “The Doors” over and over again, I fill an Excel spreadsheet with the first results of the evaluated seminar papers and presentations.
“People talk about how great love is, but that's all bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with love if they're afraid to feel? …
Jim Morrison, Ten Years Gone (1981)
It's strange that people fear death, the pain is over. “Yeah, I guess it’s a friend.”

Heinrich, you're an oldies freak. But it's also exactly my music, our music. Our youth was sensational as far as the various bands were concerned, it will probably never be the same again. And everything is handmade!
