Besides Styx My cousin Kenneth introduced me to the group Boston in the 1970s. I still remember well that he first played the record "Boston" (1976) and then the newly acquired "Don't Look Back" (1978). When I couldn't get enough of the first record, he simply gave it to me; I still have it today.
As I now know, Tom Scholz almost the entire record was written and instrumentalized by the band themselves. Only the fifth and last song on the record is actually a studio recording by the band; music experts claim to be able to hear the difference between it and the other four songs.
Every song on the record is a hit, although the above “More Than a Feeling” and “Let Me Take You Home Tonight”, the fifth song, which Brad Delp attributed to, like the most.
The Boston group was formed by Tom Scholz Founded in 1975 when he was looking for a record company for his four previously recorded songs. The group did release an album in 2013, but I didn't pay any attention to it because I had been listening to other music since the 1980s.
Nonetheless, my two Boston albums — I treated myself to the second one later — still end up on my turntable, at least from time to time. Interestingly, I used the first album in the 1980s and 1990s to test the settings on my stereo system, which in turn is a testament to the engineering skills of Tom Scholz who incidentally has a master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); Tom Scholz assembled his sound and recording instruments himself.
And who knows, maybe one or two readers will hear the difference between the two songs.
