Feature photo: Eleven years later in Poland
On Friday, June 25, 1993, we first went to the registry office in Heilbronn and immediately afterwards to the Neckarbummler for the wedding celebration. We spared ourselves the church wedding because “our” pastor had fundamental problems with the military — I got married in uniform — and also had difficulties with the fact that my better half had rejoined the church “because of me”. As a politician, he would certainly have found many other reasons, and so we spared him this psychologically stressful situation and thus saved the day for everyone involved.
That same night we flew as a bridal couple via London to California.
Shortly before our 25th wedding anniversary, we caught up on the church wedding together with our favorite pastor in our favorite church, the Martin Luther Church in Ulm — we had God's blessing from the start.
