Thoughts about the New Year

Ladies and gentlemen, dear companions and fellow citizens,

do we really live in a world without ideals and ideas? Do we follow our own goals at all? Or do we just let ourselves drift? And what standards do we apply to ourselves and our environment?

Our politics seem to have completely lost ideals and goals. Political content is increasingly being shaped by envy, fear and hatred. But with the European idea, humanism and, for me personally, Christianity, there are great ideals that you could follow and from which you could derive your own actions or measure the actions of others.

The Christmas season and the turn of the year are the ideal litmus test. How do you spend this time and what are your main concerns? Just thinking about it is a first step.

Another step would be to take oneself as a benchmark to question everyday things. If you're having trouble juggling a handful of club memberships, how is it that one other person can be instrumental in dozens of clubs? If you have mastered your professional qualification or a course of study with commitment & verve, how can it be that someone else receives his academic consecration en passant? When you're busy with family, housekeeping, and raising children, how can anyone else do it all on the side without any effort? Supermen only exist in philosophy!

How can fellow citizens who have successfully avoided military service, alternative service or social service and are still proud of paying as little tax as possible want to work for us and our country? It's time we all started to think more - about ourselves and our environment!

Where do we stand, where do we want to go and who do we want to follow?

Have courage for ideals! Try to align your own actions with this and always remain human.

I wish you a Merry Christmas with your loved ones and I am already looking forward to seeing you again next year.

  • I can fully agree with the idea and I'm always amazed when you read your own Christmas greetings that don't just say ..fr..Fest.etc. wishes.. reaps so many positive responses while the greetings of the leadership are spread by some speechwriter from the internet without making any thoughts of your own or even finding your own words. It's all about the hype and a sausage and potato salad tradition.
Have a really contemplative time everyone and implement your own ideas in the coming year, provided you don't just make resolutions.
