Thoughts on Advent

Not only are the elections to the parish council behind us, but also the 1st Advent of this year. Tempus fugit ... and a little faster every year.

The annual Advent, actually the time to prepare for Christmas and also a good opportunity for reflection.

Every year I make it my goal to be ready by the 1st Advent so that I can slowly but surely slide into the Christmas season. And again and again after the first Advent I find out what I still have to do by Christmas at the latest; so also this year.

Only this year I want to be a little smarter than usual for the first time and think about what I could leave behind over the Christmas holidays.

In any case, it must not be the good wishes that I like to send to my family, friends, acquaintances and everyone else.

I wish you and all of you a contemplative Advent season, a Merry Christmas, cozy holidays in as pleasant a group as possible and later a Happy New Year!

In particular, I am thinking of my comrades who are holding the fort for all of us somewhere in the world. For the first time, their own son is also present, which gives the whole thing a whole new meaning.

So if anyone misses any thing or reaction from me before Christmas, please don't be mad about it, because I'll definitely make up for it next year - God willing!

"It's Christmas Eve! It's the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, we smile a little easier, we cheer a little more. For a couple of hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be."

Bill Murray as Francis Xavier "Frank" Cross in Scrooged (1988)
