I was recently asked where you could eat well in Heilbronn. This question came as a great surprise to me, and I didn't want to answer the questioner, although it was completely correct, that this was of course the case at home; this is not due to me, but solely to my better half.

However, over the decades I believe I have acquired a certain ability to judge good food, especially since I used to go to Heilbronn and the surrounding area to eat out with my grandparents and parents from an early age. This was partly due to the fact that my grandmother was one of the best cooks in the city and district and old people from Heilbronn still rave about her kitchen in what was then the Sülmertor.
It was always a pleasure for my grandmother to visit my colleagues, and I got to know and love the entire diversity of our regional cuisine.
Later, the first Italian, Greek and Chinese restaurants in Heilbronn were added, which further increased the range of good food, and so it is still a great pleasure for me to eat out in Heilbronn and the surrounding area to this day.
Over the decades, the range of good restaurants has been supplemented again and again by newcomers, but unfortunately many very good restaurants have also been closed again or have experienced a change of ownership, which was less advantageous, at least for my taste.
Ultimately, however, it is a very personal and, in the truest sense of the word, pure matter of taste, which is also strongly influenced by the gastronomic environment, more precisely how you feel comfortable in the respective restaurant, so that it is really very difficult for me to make recommendations pronounce
But in order to be able to give the questioner a halfway satisfactory answer, I have now set myself the goal, starting with this article, of recommending a few restaurants to which I myself like to return again and again, and to which I also have more connect good memories.
Of course, this list can never be complete and is subject to updating.
Rappenhof estate restaurant (Weinsberg)
Best reached by car (15 minutes), but you can earn your hunger by bike (40 minutes) or even better on foot (30 minutes) from the Weinsberg tram stop.
Where the rooster crows (fine)
Also easy to reach by car (15 minutes), but you can also take the city bus (Flein, Rathaus) plus walk (15 minutes), take a bike (30 minutes) or come entirely on foot (a good 60 minutes).
Into the box (Wilhelmstrasse)
Less easy to reach by car (underground car park Wollhaus), but all the better on foot. And the city bus stops almost in front of the door.
Spain (Innsbrucker Strasse)
Probably the oldest Italian restaurant in Heilbronn. Here, too, I recommend leaving the car in the Wollhaus underground car park and walking the rest of the way (less than 10 minutes). The best way to get there is to walk or take the city bus.
Myth (Kaiser Friedrich Square)
Greek cuisine that will make you want to come back. It is best to leave the car in the Stadtgalerie/Kaufhof multi-storey car park and cross the Neckar on foot (5 minutes). Here too, walking is always the best option. But even with the tram (Neckar Turm stop) it is less than 10 minutes on foot.
La Toscana (South Street)
Italian kitchen. Park right in front of the restaurant in the City Süd Center car park. Also very easy to reach on foot or by city bus.
wine villa (Cäcilienstrasse)
Best reached on foot. Leave your car in the Wollhaus underground car park or use the bus station there. Then it's about a 5-minute walk. Several city buses also stop nearby.
Ratskeller (Town hall)
No matter how, whether on foot, by bike, by tram, by bus or by car (Käthchenhof multi-storey car park), it is always easy to reach.
Hans in hapiness (Idol tower)
Best reached on foot. Leave your car in the Stadtgalerie underground car park (approx. 5 minutes on foot) or in the Experimenta garage and then walk along the “Neckar mile” (Obere Neckarstraße) for a good 10 minutes.
fisherman's home (Sontheim)
Best reached by car (15 minutes). Parking is available. If you are good on foot, you can also find your way around the Neckar and you can get there in about 45 minutes from the city center. It's a little faster by bike.
Charivari (Gymnasiumstrasse)
Very easy to reach on foot. If you come by bus, get off in the Allee, and if you come by car, it is best to use the Wollhaus underground car park (both times about 5 minutes on foot).
High-altitude restaurant Wartberg (Wartberg)
Easily accessible on foot (40 minutes) and by car (10 minutes).
Warsteiner Stuben (Avenue)
Very easy to reach on foot, by bike and public transport. Both the Theater underground car park and the Harmonie underground car park are less than 5 minutes away.

Very easy to reach on foot, by bike and public transport. The theater underground car park is in the house.

Country hotel Gasthof Krone
(Kupferzell – Ash Valley)
Reachable in less than 40 minutes by car. There are enough parking spaces on site. And if you don't want to go back in the evening, you can spend the night there very well.
MoschMosch (Upper Neckarstrasse)
Very easy to reach on foot or by bike. Trams and city buses stop at Marktplatz (approx. 5 minutes on foot). There you can also use an underground car park or that of the Experimenta (also about 5 minutes).

Abacco's Steakhouse (Upper Neckarstrasse)

Backstüble (Autumn Street)
After a change of ownership, the Backstüble has once again made it onto my list of the best restaurants.
Very easy to reach on foot or by bike. Trams and city buses stop at the avenue (approx. 5 minutes on foot). The nearest underground car park is Harmonie (also about 5 minutes away).
Forest restaurant Jägerhaus
And the Jägerhaus is also there again. It can be reached on foot in 40 minutes or by bike in 20 minutes. There are enough parking spaces and there is also a bus connection during the summer.
Tenno (Imperial Road)
After a successful move, now back with us. The new Tenno is now presented at Kaiserstraße 27. Very easy to reach on foot or by bike. Trams and city buses stop at Marktplatz or at Harmonie (both approx. 5 minutes on foot). There you can also use an underground car park.
Landgasthof Sonne (Happenbach)
Best reached by car (20 minutes), but you can earn your hunger by bike (50 minutes) or even better on foot (2 hours 30 minutes) via the Waldheide or the Schweinsbergturm. As a circular route, it even becomes a 25-kilometer hike.
Parking spaces are available in front of the house.
Restaurant Cäcilie (Rosenberg Quartier)
Easy to reach on foot or by bike. Restaurant guests with a table reservation can use parking spaces in the underground car park free of charge.
Swabian Restaurant (Island Hotel)
At it again; The ambience and service were convincing.
Very easy to reach on foot or by bike. Tram and city buses stop at the market square (approx. 5 minutes on foot). The hotel has its own underground car park or you can use the Experimenta one (approx. 5 minutes).
