Even though the latest film by Roman Polanski Although the critics didn't give it much praise, I took the time to watch "The Palace" myself yesterday.
Admittedly, I like Roman Polanski But then again and again he is responsible for films that I like even after watching them again. “The Fearless Vampire Killers” from 1967 is probably a classic. “The Ninth Gate” (1999) I like more because Johnny Depp, but “Carnage” (2011) is once again great cinema.
In his latest work, John Cleese and Mickey Rourke Both are, in my opinion, a guarantee for good films. But what convinced me as an actor was Oliver masucci — but it could also be that I simply felt sorry for his role, which again speaks in his favor.
The dog was too ordinary for a comedy, things are much better now (see “Deadpool & Wolverine” from 2024) and the Penguin didn’t save it either.
Sydne rome I remembered her a little differently, but she fit in well with the other hotel guests. Perhaps the film shows only too well that we all change - sometimes not for our own benefit - and probably upsets not only many film critics, but also some more mature viewers. Younger moviegoers should be able to smile about it.
The Bronwyn James I'm not quite sure yet: brave or more in the category of "what you won't do to get into the cinema" - but the trend is currently moving more towards brave, which ultimately probably applies to the entire film cast.
In the film I missed Roman Polanski Even though he would have been a perfect fit as another hotel guest, I waited until the very end for his appearance.
The criticism that the film introduces too many characters without developing them through to the end is certainly justified. But it is not a series like “Upstairs, Downstairs”, but simply another Roman Polanski.
I will definitely watch “The Palace” again, because I have certainly missed one or two references. All in all, the film is a good depiction of our society today, and Roman Polanski certainly knows this very well.

If the increasingly popular remake trend underlines the new feeling of transience, it should not be of any harm 😎
This puppet show made me wish that 90-year-old Polanski would stop making films!
I prefer to stick with other Methuselahs of cinema like Clint Eastwood.
Such wishes come true faster than you think. Richard Siegfried Lugner no longer does any opera ball productions.
