Freedom, peace, democracy and economic prosperity - Europe's promise to its citizens. In a global comparison, we Europeans are also doing well; it's just that many of us have often lost sight of it. Nevertheless, poverty persists even in the richer regions of the European Union and even on its periphery there are entire regions where the above promise has yet to be fulfilled.
Outside the borders of Europe things are much worse, people have to fight for their bare existence or try to get across the borders and mostly on adventurous routes to Europe. And recently it has become obvious that dictatorships and regimes of terror, also in our immediate vicinity, are increasingly trying to question the very existence of Europe. In doing so, they do not shy away from invading neighboring countries, murdering entire sections of the population or openly threatening the European Union itself. They are even mobilizing their columns in our member states to finally put an end to the idea of freedom, peace and democracy with all available means.
We all must finally realize that the European idea is not a final state and certainly not "without alternatives". Our freedom, our peace, our democracy and our economic prosperity have to be fought for again and again - by ourselves! Achievements that are believed to have already been achieved are not forever and certainly cannot be inherited.
We all have to live our European idea, stand up for it and also constantly work on it, or we will lose the achievements we have made, such as freedom, peace and democracy, and thus end up in servitude, furor and horror – mostly coupled with abject poverty.
The members of the EUROPA-UNION Heilbronn - part of a Europe-wide citizens' movement for a Europe united in diversity - stand up for the European idea, promote it and try to convince all fellow citizens that the alternatives such as e.g. B. Hate, exclusion, intolerance and pure egoism do not advance society or even keep it alive.
That is why we would like to show again at the 26th Meeting Point Europe in Heilbronn that we people can better achieve our goals peacefully united and that we can defy every evil in the community.
Say yes to Europe: to freedom, peace, democracy and prosperity!
