China-Russia alignment: a threat to Europe's security – Study (last accessed on November 22.11.2024, 9.09, XNUMX:XNUMX a.m.)

“In May, Russia's President Vladimir Putin chose Beijing for the first foreign visit after his re-inauguration. The meeting was Putin's forty-third with China's President Xi Jinping, who told his “best friend” that China would continue to provide an economic lifeline, political support and equipment needed for Russia to win in Ukraine.

European and US decision makers need to be clear that additional listings or sanctions will temporarily push China and Russia closer together. However, the alignment between the two is here to stay and will grow, regardless of such decisions. But after two years of failing in convincing Beijing to curtail its export of non-lethal equipment to Russia, it is time to change the approach in Europe and take measures that can make a difference.

Time is of the essence in ending the war in Europe. To restore peace and stability in Europe, the EU cannot afford to hesitate further on how to end China's support to Russia's war efforts through dual-use equipment. It must do this in lockstep with its closest partners.”

Worth reading. Unfortunately, we Germans at least will support both the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China wherever we can, purely out of economic interests and sometimes also out of a deep political connection with any dictatorship. To make matters worse, German components will continue to be found in all of these countries' weapons in the future.

At least since Helmut Schmidt our political minds are no longer thinking outside the box, let alone beyond a single legislative period. The consequences for us will be fatal!

  1. Well, after all, we are the moral world champions and soon we will be the world's CO2 saviours. ... You have to set priorities.
It's just a shame that no one in the world, apart from our naive party ideologists, sees this as relevant. Of course, the money distributed by our trampoline jumper is still gladly accepted.

    1. Unfortunately, we are not world champions in terms of morality — which is why we are so loved around the world — and we are certainly not model students when it comes to sustainability and environmental protection.

The fact that no one has been interested in German foreign policy for a long time is certainly not the fault of the current minister – that is a matter for someone else. However, it should also be noted that since 1945 only a common European foreign policy would have a chance – even a Henry Kissinger recognized decades ago.
