Although encounters on the street with neighbors or old acquaintances are always a good source of news and new ideas, the regular get-togethers in the form of regular get-togethers are still the better opportunity to exchange ideas with one another and also to do some business on the side to be done on the "small official way".

Up until a few years ago, I really enjoyed attending the weekly DLRG get-togethers, and I still use the monthly European get-togethers or the monthly free voters' rounds to exchange ideas on a regular basis. I also like to take part in the German-African meetings, which have suffered somewhat from the pandemic, and from time to time - more for nostalgic reasons - I also take part in the occasional British or French roundtables.

In 2018 and 2019, in the run-up to the municipal council elections, I had an additional one for the people of Heilbronn talk offer made, although today I am convinced that the existing discussion groups should be sufficient to start a conversation with me. Transparency

My years of trying to get a little more transparency in the Heilbronn city administration is showing the first fruits. For one, plot the Free Voters now on their website since July 2022, which applications they submit when and whether and how the city administration reacts and, on the other hand, the free voters are now increasingly asking what the decisions of the municipal council will actually become.

And so I'm very happy that now too Thomas Aurich from the CDU faction of the Heilbronn municipal council on record that the administrative processes must become more transparent. In an interview with the Heilbronner Voice (September 6.9.2022, XNUMX, online) he admits: "We have lost track of who asked what when and how it was answered." .”

The Free Voters are already a big step further with their list, which is transparent for everyone, but overall it is a first step in the right direction. Now it remains to be seen whether the other factions in the Heilbronn municipal council and above all the Heilbronn city administration will continue to wall down and stick to their tried and tested policy of backrooms, or whether they will dare to take the step towards more citizen proximity and openness.
