construction sites

Some things just always take a little longer, and so there are things and matters in Heilbronn that one would have liked to have had a little longer or only halfway solved. The Frankenbahn or the Saarlandstraße are probably the most well-known construction sites in Heilbronn. In order to sort the whole thing a little and maybe also prepare it a little better, I would like to summarize these construction sites in a single blog post.

I'll just start with it today and build on the fact that other interested people from Heilbronn will help me to complete it. The construction sites are listed alphabetically and not according to their importance, urgency or even their age. And if you would like to write an article about a construction site yourself, please let me know.

Europe House

After the Experimenta had established itself in Heilbronn, I briefly hoped that the idea of targeted political education and civic further education could also bear fruit in Heilbronn.

Already 2014 and again in 2017 I also wrote about this topic here in the weblog.

Europe Square

The topic in Heilbronn for which I receive the most inquiries. But I don't get any answers from the municipal council or the city administration either. At best, one is put off, so that one has had to ask oneself for a long time when a new reallocation will take place.

I already have this too own blog post written.

Floodlight system Neckarstadion

Football has not played a role in Heilbronn for a long time, and our sports facilities are not characterized by first class either.

Fountain at the Neckarbühne

Those responsible for it don't even get that sorted out. But we learn quite well from this that you should think about it before you start implementing projects.

Frankenbahn

I already have this topic in January 2006 dedicated a separate post on this weblog. And since then, the Frankenbahn has run like a red thread through other posts.

Pedestrian zones in the core city

Ever since the discussions about the first pedestrian zone began, this has been a very tiresome topic. In the meantime, even in the case of the existing pedestrian zones, one can only speak of traffic-calmed streets, and necessary expansions continue to be vehemently delayed and dragged out.

large event hall

One can still dream. I have in this regard im December 2019 announced an idea.

port / port railway

It is a pity to see how critical infrastructure in an industrial and commercial city is neglected and run down.

House boats

I already wrote a blog post about this in February 2020. This was also very well received. Unfortunately, this is not an issue for the proponents of a "city on the river" concept. With the arrival of the Neckar-Käpt'n in Heilbronn, things might at least get a little momentum in the boat restaurants.

intercity stop

I no longer even think of a Trans-Europ-Express or a EuroCity, let alone an ICE or an international night train connection. I would be satisfied if Intercity trains could and would stop in Heilbronn.

As I was a commuter myself for decades, I know the importance of such a train connection. A large number of people in Heilbronn cannot stay in Heilbronn because they have no chance of getting to their place of work on time using public transport.

Markthalle

Recently, the market hall is once again in discussion. The contribution from is very up-to-date Herbert Burkhardt. My contribution to this is from from February 2018.

New Kranenstrasse

With the development of the Neckar bend, this street became an absolute necessity in order to have a second connection to this part of the city next to the Paula-Fuchs-Alle.

neighborhood garages

Probably an urgent need in old to older neighborhoods that were still being planned when there were no cars. So far, I have not understood why people are starting to realize this in new districts.

Saarlandstrasse

Many hoary city councilors have been able to tell me the best stories about this, but unfortunately no one has dared to write a post about it here on this weblog.

Surfer wave in the Neckar

During a walk last year told me Thomas Aurich from his idea of a surfer wave in the Neckar. This topic seems to be coming up again.

University

A sign alone does not make a university. And the word also has something to do with universality itself.

I wrote on the subject in January 2010 own blog post.

Forest house

Although many volunteers breathed new life into the former Waldheim of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt, there is clearly a need for further renovation.

You can find more about the forest house on the club page.
