Advent is traditionally the time of year to stop, reflect and prepare for the upcoming Christmas celebrations. Although "everyday life" with its monotony seems to have displaced our actual reality, we are becoming more and more pure consumers and banalities have taken over our lives, unfortunately existential threats and life crises appear again and again, which remind us of our own finiteness lead eyes.
I am all the more pleased that, through your membership in EUROPA-UNION Heilbronn, you are helping us to make our world a little more worth living in together. It is the ideals and values that have to be right in order to organize our lives better and to be able to make progress, because this enables us to meet and solve existing and future challenges.
This applies both to the individual and to our communities such as family, place, city, district, country, state or Europe. Our common federal idea is and will remain the key to success. It is the chauvinist, nationalist and centralist tendencies that endanger our idea of a better world - a federal Europe is not the problem, a federal Europe is the solution!
We must continue to communicate this to our fellow citizens and, above all, to our elected representatives. We have to win over our fellow human beings for our idea and also remind our politicians of what we actually want. It is true that democracy and federalism are not easy to obtain, they are time-consuming, often uncomfortable and, above all, they require our constant commitment.
Only dictatorship and centralism are there to watch and free house - including a bill that nobody wants and can pay.
