Today is the European Union's Europe Day, which should not be commemorated without yesterday's May 8th. Why, I have last year already tried to explain.

The EUROPA-UNION Heilbronn has also tried everything to draw the attention of the people of Heilbronn and Heilbronn to this day during Europe Week, especially since this year it is also the official start of the conference on the future of Europe. However, a look at stimme.de shows that our efforts were completely in vain; It is not yet clear to me whether this was just neglected out of sheer laziness or sheer ignorance.

That was what yesterday was for 32. (Virtual) Meeting point Europe a small success, mainly because it is obvious to most of those involved that the 8th and 9th of May belong together and that Europe Week should be given a higher priority throughout Europe — after all, it is about our democracies, ergo for our own existence.

How fragile the whole thing is can be seen not only in Hungary or Poland, where very clumsy mini-tyrants do their work, but also in other countries, such as Austria and Bavaria, where politicians are democracy subvert much more subtly and ultimately buried. Jan Böhmermann has this in ZDF Magazin Royale from May 7, 2021 by the way, very well done.
